How to change oil pan on 2001 x5 bmw 3.0

remove the reinforcement plate under the engine. 4 x 17mm nuts. You will need to hold the back side of each bolt with a box end wrench or it will just spin. Then you will see the oil pan. Remove the 10mm nuts and the pan will come off. . (Drain the oil first!). When you replace the reinforcement plate, use new bolts. They are one-time use. (Really).

Where is the oil drain plug on a 2002 BMW 325i

It is located on the oil pan, please be advised the oil pan is also the casting that houses the front differential, and the engine oil drain is the hex nut furthest to the rear of of the pan . You will need a 17mm wrench to remove the hex nut . After you drain the oil, DO NOT over tighten the plug . The proper torque is 25 newton/meters or about 20 foot/pounds

Haw to install oil pan gasket on1991 BMW 850i

drain the oil first as if your doing an oil change. undo all the bolts around the entire perimeter of the oil pan. drop it down.scrape the old gasket off of both the pan and the engine where it was mounted. Clean both surfaces well. put the new gasket on the pan and reverse the instructions for removal. jump from bolt to bolt in an crisscross pattern or else it won't seal right replace the drain plug may as well replace the oil filter and add new oil.

I have a broken oil pan .will the engin start after replacing the pan?

Should no problem, provided you didn't drive it far w/little or no oil. I saw woman hit a cinder block, brake oil pan and drive 23 miles before engine seized. Cost her $4500 for new motor.

Removal of oilpan

the engine needs to be supported from the top. your oil pan is most likely hanging up on the oil pump. to remove, the subframe must be lowered abit after you've supported the engine from the top.
