Trigger on poulan 3314 does not control speed. Saw runs at constant speed, somewhere above fast idle.

Turn the "T" needle valve CCW a little (1/8 turn) blip throttle, no better, CW 1/4 turn, blip throttle. The "T" is below the other 2 needle valve adjustments. A saw running lean (air leak in intake somewhere) also runs fast. To lean destroys the saw. Post back (below) with results.

Open the cover over the air cleaner so that you can observe the action of the throttle cable and carburetor lever. Operate the throttle--normal action is lever wide open at full throttle and lever resting on idle stop screw when throttle released. If action is restricted, disassemble the handle where the throttle trigger is located and clean out the sawdust. Recheck throttle action. The throttle cable shouldn't require lubrication. Clean the air filter and check the operation of the engine. Hope this helps!

Chainsaw won't idle- runs fast only

Gently Tighten the carb adjustment screw fully tight then adjust it out 360 (full turn) then again a further 180 ( half a turn) and your idle speed should be set correctly. Let me know how you get on

Starting a poulan 18 inch widthing chainsaw

Start by filling the fuel tank with a fresh mix of 50-1, fill the chain oil tank with non fling chain oil, sit the saw on the ground with the bar away from any obstructions, engage the chainbrake, switch the ignition on, press the fuel bulb as many times as it takes to 3/4 fill the bulb, pull the choke out, this should also engage the fast idle, crank the engine until it fires once, it will not run on choke, it is importent at this point you must push the choke back in, now crank the engine until it runs, flick the trigger to allow the saw to idle.

I have a poulan pro 4018. THe chain saw will start, but it appears that the choke is on full blast. As soon as it starts, the chain is moving - unsafe at the moment - I can use it as long as I don't...

Check the fuel filter, air filter, and muffler for plugging. Check the fuel lines for decay or other damage. Turn the idle speed screw (T) CCW somewhat to prevent the chain from turning at idle. If the above doesn't allow the engine to run without the choke on, then remove the carburetor, clean the interior with spray carburetor cleaner and check the diaphragm in the lower chamber for flexibility with no holes or cracks. Hope this helps!

Saw is idling to high will not adjust down. What do I do.

Open the carburetor area cover and remove the air cleaner so that you can observe the throttle arm and the idle speed screw which stops throttle movement to set idle speed. If the throttle arm doesn't come back completely to the screw, then likely, the throttle trigger is jammed with sawdust/dirt that prevents the throttle arm from returning. Disassemble the trigger assembly making notes of part placement as you go. You will usually find a plug of sawdust in the trigger mechanism. Recheck the throttle arm motion after putting the trigger back together. You may have to advance the idle speed screw several turns CW to be able to keep the engine running when the throttle works correctly. Idle speed should be set so that the engine continues to run, but the chain doesn't try to turn. Hope this helps!

Need to adjust hi lo idle settings but unsure how to start this process saw is poulan wild thing saw idles too fast and fast idle needs to come down

If idle speed is the only problem, there is a screw (not the two jet screws H and L) for this purpose. Turn the screw CCW until the chain stops turning, but the engine continues to run. Hope this helps!

I have a poulan pro pp4620avhd chainsaw. I can get it to start and stay running as long as I have the choke on. I can even run it at high speed using the choke control. When I pull the trigger to feed it...

Check the fuel filter and muffler for plugging. Check the fuel lines for condition. Check the carburetor fasteners for tightness. If the saw has a lot of hours, remove the lower section of the carburetor and check the condition of the diaphragm--it should not be hard/cracked. If everything seems to check out ok, Turn both jet screws CW to stops (lightly), then CCW each 1-1/2 turns. The engine should start and run--allow the engine to warm up. Pull the throttle full on and adjust H needle CW til the engine speeds up, but still 4-strokes. Proper adjustment is when the engine 4-strokes, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Let idle and adjust L CW so that the engine runs fairly well, but allows the engine to 'follow the throttle'. Adjust the idle speed screw so that the chain stops turning, but the engine continues to run. Hope this helps!

Model P3314 throttle is stuck

Remove the air cleaner assembly to see the carburetor throttle mechanism and open the handle so that you can access the throttle trigger. There should be either a cable or wire connecting the trigger to the throttle arm on the carburetor. Try moving the trigger and see if it responds at the carburetor. Is the carburetor arm against the idle stop screw, wide open, or some where in between? There should be a spring at the throttle arm that returns the arm to the idle stop if the cable/wire is disconnected. The trigger mechanism may be jammed with sawdust to prevent movement. Hope this helps!

Runs to fast

You need to adjust the idle and high speed screw settings on the saw. Consult your user manual for tuning the engine.

Poulan 2450 Woodmaster 2.3 ci eng.

Hi Guest,
My name is Dennis and I also have the model you are having difficulty with and I can only repeat the instructions from the owners manual (with personal comments) because they have always served me adequately I hope that will serve your needs.
IDLE ADJUSTMENTS:
There are three adjustment screws on the carburetor labeled
H (for High speed MIXTURE)
L (for low speed MIXTURE)
T (for idle SPEED SETTING)
They are located just above the primer bulb. If your saw floods so soon in the starting process the idle mixture setting can be set too rich and the speed may be set too slow. Remember the chain will not move when the idle speed is set correctly with a WARM ENGINE!
Adjust the idle speed to just below chain movement WITH A WARM ENGINE this is just below the activation RPM of the centrifugal clutch. Let the engine run at a higher speed than idle until it is warm -- 3 min -- you may have to keep goosing it until then.
Please don't exceed the limits of the plastic limiters when making adjustments.
If you haven't adjusted the mixture screws you may just have to adjust the idle speed and that can start my turning that screw all the way in to the stop and then back out 4-1/2 turns for a good place to start. FAST IDLE -- Adjust the speed until the engine runs with out the chain moveing. Adjust clockwise to increase speed. Cclockwise to decrease engine speed.
Accelerate the engine and if it stumbles and makes too much smoke it's too rich turn the LOW SPEED MIXTURE (in) clockwist in 1/16 a turn incriments NO MORE at a time because a twocycle needs to run at a setting foe a short time to realy prove the setting. dont run it wide open to warm it up but it should be at a fast idle. Nothing you do will be proven correct untill the engine is warm.
Good Luck
Glad to be of assistance - please rate the solution because I will learn from your rating. Thank you
Your IDLE MIXTURE may be too rich causing the engine to flood.
