engine will quit when get off seat thats the safety --check the cable and deck actuator for engagement problem

I'm assuming the motor will crank over, but not start. Remove the air intake cover & filter off the carburetor air intake. Do you smell gas? Is gas dripping out of the carburetor? If not, spray a couple shots of starting fluid or carburetor cleaner into the carburetor air intake throat. Close the choke & crank the engine. If it starts, & stalls, repeat the process. If it won't stay running, your carburetor float jet is gummed up & needs to be cleaned. Check & clean the spark plug. Does the spark plug fire when the engine is cranked? If no, then you have an ignition problem.

Take the fuel line off carb, and see if fuel runs out. Your fuel cap vent may be plugged.

What is the Temp. in degrees outside. if below 35 degrees it will

be a problem. Some tractors are cold natured and a diesel needs

plenty of cranking amps to start. Have you tried either ?

If you do try either, crank the engine before you squirt it into the breather, and only a small amount. Either is hard on engines

this is why you use it sparingly.

When I start the engine the mower blades start to turn. The blades turn as long as the engine is running. The PTO does not stop the blades from turning even when I stand up off the seat or when I go in reverse. What should I look for to fix this problem. I have a LA145 mower, 48" cut, bought in 2010. With everything you said I never heard you say you checked the oil or put in oil Hope it didn't run tight on you.I'm not sure if your model has one but some also have safety switches under the clutch pedal . If not have you checked the hydrostatic oil im not sure if your is hydro but that could also keep it from shifting in gear and possibly keep it from starting to protect transmission. Just some ideas good luck

i had the same problem, it is most likely that your fuel lines are leaking and fuel pump in tank is weak
when the tractor sits for a while the fuel drains back into the tank, thus your injection pump has no fuel in it.i solved it by replacing all the lines and i added electric fuel pump on outside of tank and connected the power to key,when i start the tractor i turn key on for a minuet or so than start the engine ,it solved the problem.

I have a 115 john deere tractor that runs but the engine will not run smooth I've put a new fuel cap on it a new pump and clean out the carb.

Take it back , it is still under warranty if you just bought it.
