My Amana 240V elect dryer shuts down in the middle of a cycle and won't work again till it is cooled down. The exhaust vent is clear, blowing hot air (when it is running) seems to me, if the high limit control on the heater is tripped, the drive motor would coninue to run, it just won't heat up. But, if the drive motor got to hot and tripped, this would shut down the heater as well. Some feedback would be appreciated!

First check voltage and breaker,(this is a big one)
next, if you have power to the appliance (120 gas dryer or 240 electric) then the door switch is probaly broken.
lastly, perhaps a thermal fuse located on blower vent. goodluck

When using the WD-1000 as a Dryer only, are you turning the rightmost knob Clockwise to the correct starting point?
Looking at the periphery of the knob, at the bottom, see the elongated "sausage" shape, outlined in blue? Turn the knob so it passes "Stop", and points there.
At the end of a completed Wash Cycle, that is where the pointer will be pointing. Once there, the machine switches automatically to Dryer Mode.
As long as the middle dial is set to a timer length greater than zero, the drying begins. I recommend turning the middle dial to somewhere around 2:00 o'clock, which corresponds to about 90 minutes if I remember correctly.
(You'll notice that is in the "Orange" area, meaning Full Heat - which is always fine because it never gets too hot anyway)
So, turn right dial to point to the "white sausage" at the bottom of the dial; Turn middle dial to 90 mins, or so; (Left dial only controls "Spin" speed - just set to max); and close the door. (It should begin drying)
Try pushing the breaker pair off, then on and re-check the dryer. If still nothing, pull the power plug and check the two slanted slots for ~220 volts AC. If you don't have access to a voltmeter, or a friend with one, call an electrician to check. If you read the voltage stated, then the problem is within the dryer. Check the back of the machine for a reset button.
HI thanks for the question Thts a sure sign of a bad motor, stopping In the middle of a cycle. and then starting again, and now no start replace the motor
Try setting the washer dial to the stop setting at the end of setting number 4 then set the dryer timer and turn on the machine. This works for mine to get the dryer to run by itself. It should begin about 30 seconds later, when the door locks. Hope this helps.
I just read this for the same problem: push sanitize, then heat and dry, sanitize, heat and dry, sanitize, heat and dry, cancel, then open and close the door. It worked. The dishwasher is running correctly even as I type this.
I HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM. TRY PUSHING THIS SEQUENCE OF BUTTONS: HEATED DRY, NORMAL, HEATED DRY, NORMAL. THIS RESET MY PANEL AND IT IS WORKING NORMALLY NOW. I FOUND THIS SUGGESTION ON ANOTHER SITE.
my dryer is plug in but will not start
