93 talon hard to start runs rough untill it warms up. (backfires dies exetera)

My 93 talon has a 2.0 n/t 4g63 in it ive changed the coil pack wires plugs. has a new head thought it might be a bad crank angle sensor or a throttle position sensor. its properly timed (as long as your not supposed to advance the timing) and i have tried running fuel additives and i cant figure it out. ideas?

I would start with checking the fuel pressure and boosting the fuel with spraying carb cleaner into the air intake hose.
It sounds like you are not getting enough gas into the cylinders.
Could be a vac leak too.

SOURCE: Rough idle until warm

HMM, ya ont get a code unless ya figure out how to read the morse code values the OB1's use. Hmm sputters, and rough idle can be from poor air circulation, as well fuel delivery.

first air.......inspect and clean your vacuum hoses, cracks and leaks will most notably ruin your day. as well as the performance of your ride. check the seal for your intake hose around the throttle body, then clean the ports in and around your throttle body as well. Bad air supply, poor idle.. follow me..

second is fuel delivery. Your getting your gas, thats evident, but are you getting the required amount. hard to guage unless you disconnect a line and test its pressure. so lets USE the KISS method.. KEEPING IT SIMPLE STUPID

first, check and or replace your fuel pressure regulator...

second, inspect condition of your fuel filter.

thrid, and certianly the last thing, your fuel pump. go in that order. or your gonna seriously annoy yourself when a 5 dollar fix turns into a 3-400 dollar fix.

I know you mentioned the EGR valve has been replaced, but you may have a bad 'new' part. I know the car is electronic, but has anyone checked its ignition timing (timing belt been looked at, I know it only has 77k on it). Is the fuel pressure regulator OK and it vacumm supply?

SOURCE: 99 olds silhouette... changed plugs wires and coil

will try to help, are you sure the fuel pump comes on and runs through the whole cycle of turning key on for 10 seconds through at least 5 cycles? the timing light may be picking up the crankshaft positioning sensor signal, it's magnetic pulse. and then again you could be dealing with a bad timing chain or belt, most likely chain driven. am trying to help, but not sure unless i hear it onsite. at least this may point you to something. sorry at no charge, hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com if no help please repost!!!1

I just replaced my coil pack 93 astro. Drive it 2 miles it backfired and died now coil is no good. Got another one same thing

are you sure the coil is bad and not a problem with the module in the distributor, you could try unplugging the tan wire with black stripe, connector near distributor and see if it starts, in 26 years ive seen alot more module failures than coil failures.

93 talon tsi getting fuel and spark car cranks but wont start

I would try making sure spark plug wires are put on in the correct firing order. This is a common mistake in tune ups. Most intake manifolds have the firinging order cast in. Plug gaps correct? I cant come too far away.

Why does my 93 Caravan Start fine and run great till it warms up then dies and wont start untill it cools back down.

I had the same problem a few years ago and it was the coil pack breaking down. If it starts missing before it dies id get a new coil pack. Before u buy a coil pack you need to get it warm again and just before it dies look underneath the vehicle to see if the catalytic converter is starting to get hot, if it is hot and usually getting red hot, its stopped up.It will fool you in to thinking that the coil is bad.

Hard to keep running when warm 92 eagle tsi

The INFAMOUS DSM Hot Start Problem

Here are a few things to try: 1) Block off your EGR valve. Sometimes these fail, and when they do, this is what happens.

2) Change your vaccum hoses, especially the one going to the fuel-pressure regulator. Sometimes this one leaks and creates problems for the FPR.

3) Change your plug wires. I'd use some MagnaCore wires. They're less $$$ than the stock ones, and they're 8.5mm opposed to the stock 6mm. The stock wires are no good, especially when raising the boost.

4) Clean your throttle body REALLY well. Make it spotless, including both sides of the throttle plate.

5) Clean out your intercooler. Do this by taking it out, dump about a gallon of gasoline into it, then shake it around and dump out. Repeat process until gas coming out is clean.
