Very bad shudder only when trying to take off.

Now i have a bigger problem and need help ASAP, seems like my first GTI is turning out to be a nightmare. It starts and revs clean to the red line when in netural but when i put it in gear and try to take off the whole car starts to shudder very very badly and just wont get moving, the clutch is still feeling normal at the pedal and is still taking at the half way point. when the car is in motion it goes just fine and smooth through all gears but if i have to stop on even the smallest hill it will jus shudder really bad and refuse to go, and i just changed front and rear engine mountings. Any advise will be much appricated. many thanx, shane.

Sounds like you got oil contamination on your clutch plate or may be a broken clutch spring..

It sounds like you are in the right area. Try the Seafoam throttle body cleaner. This will be the most effective for what you are trying to do. I have a VW shop for manual for that car if you would like it. email me at [email protected] and I will send it to you.

Fault p1340. My scanner is showing this fault and the car seems to be running pretty good. any idea as to why it is showing this fault?

The cam belt may be worn has jumped a tooth. The cam belt should be replaced every 60,000 miles. This is an interference engine and as such if the belt breaks you will have serious engine damage. You may also have a bad cam position sensor. Have this looked into ASAP by a professional.

Did you replace the fuel pump with a NEW fuel pump, or a used one?
Get in the car, insert key and turn to "On". Do not attempt to start. Do you hear the fuel pump run for a few moments? Try it a few times, starting the car each time after you hear the fuel pump run. If the fuel pump does not run, then chances are, it's a bad fuel pump.
It could also be the fuel pressure regulator, located on the fuel rail.

Your statement about the oil is confusing.
