How do you replace the heater core system on a 1997 Plymouth Grand Voyager SE, 3.3 litter V-6? One of the pipes for the heater core is broke. I know how to fix it, but I do not know how to get to it. It is by the front heater core, and is leaking fliud in the flour of the driver side of my van. Is there any way I could get to this pipe with out taking out my steeting column?

YOU HAVE TO REPLACE HEATER CORE ALL TOGETHER THE PIPE CANT BE REPLACED YOU HAVE TO REPLACE ENTIRE HEATER CORE.

  • Anonymous Jun 22, 2011

It is not a pipe in the heater core, it is the pipe that goes from the rear heater core to the front heater core. I had a brake in the pipe by the rear heater core and I cut the pipe out and put a heater hose on it with some clamps. I know I can do the same thing to the pipe by the front heater core with out relpaceing the heater core. I just need to know it there is a way to these pipes with out removing the steering column?

I need to know what the pipe is called that the lower rad hose hooks up to on the 1998 plymouth grand voyager mini van 3.0L, 3 speed automatic ?

if you follow the pipe does it go towards the transmission ? if so it's for the trans cooler. If not it will be the escape hose incase of overheating/to much pressure in the coolant system , if you go to a parts retailer like autozone they will have the part named on their data system , its a bit difficult without seeing vehicle to name parts . although you have given a good description, the lower rad hose carries cooled coolant so i would think it's the trans cooler but check at autozone or similar

1997 plymouth grand voyager cruise control problems

Try doing a "Brain Kill" on the van. Disconnect both battery terminals, and (MAKE SURE THEY ARE NOT CONNECTED TO THE BATTERY!!!!!) touch and hold them together for at least 10 seconds. Mopars hold onto their faults, even after the repairs. Huge problem for transmission shops, but that's another topic. My 99 Dakota had the Speed Sensor fail, and it wouldn't shift until I "Killed" the ECM and BCM's memories.

Good Luck!!!

I've got a 1997 Plymouth Grand Voyager Rallye SE. The heat for the back air vents turns on but never gets warm. It constantly stays cold (or whatever the outside temperature is) and on the flip slide if we...

your vehicle has two heater cores in it one front and one rear, there will be two heater hoses running back the van under the passenger side of van, after van is run and engine is at operating temp, find the hoses and see if they are both hot or if one is hot and one is not.those hoses are the temperature that will come out your rear heater.sometimes people get a leak in the rear and just cut and plug those hoses, and they do the same with the two metal lines that have freon in for the rear A/C.
