I have a 2001 s600 Mercedes. I haven't driven the car in months. I had to get a hot shot. When i started the car, i put the car in drive and reverse but the car doesn't move at all. What could be causing this problem? Any help would deeply appreciated, thank you and god bless

my first thought is the themostat but I would also check to make sure the cooling fan is coming on when engine gets warm if not could be relays for cooling fan
Mine just had these same symptoms, and it was because the fuel pump had died, and I had to replace it. But first, check the fuse panel to see if maybe there's a dedicated fuse for the fuel pump. If so, it may e as easy and inexpensive as replacing that. I wish you luck! I had no transportation for three weeks before I could get it fixed!
It sound like it's a sensor getting hot,and cooling overnight is clearing the condition.Haven't worked on a Buick since 97,but do remember crankshaft position senors being a common problem on the Buick V6.They would produce a hot soak/no start,a "chuggle" while driving most often, but I did have a "tourist in transit" ticket once that began as a chuggle, and finally after playing with it for 2 #@!&^% days, the sensor finally crapped out for good.Worth a shot!
That is quite a car! Remove the negative terminal from the battery and allow to sit for about a minute. Is the battery in good condition even after sitting? You may "consider" replacing if there is even a glitch. This should reset the system. Let me know what you see.
