I never heard of such a thing on a running motor. If your oil pump was bad or your pickup tube in the oilpan was off or clogged, it could have an effect. A bad block casting with some oil ports not drilled out would be a remote possibility.

You should have an oil pressure test; take off the oil sender unit and install a test gauge. You may be able to find a test gauge at Autozone, Oreillys, or Advance and they have tool loaner programs.

Please let me know the outcome of this, as it is the first case I have heard of a running motor not using its oil filter.

2002 ti gu lack of power 130km top speed

I think you were on the right track with the fuel filter change. I would purge the system. My guess is that you still have some debris in the tank which is causing a FLOW problem. You can have a restricted flow and still have sufficient pressure to start the motor and run for a brief period, but at highway speeds where the amount of fuel is as important as the pressure it seems to be falling off. Reinspect the fuel system for debris and/or restrictions. Good luck.

Aside from a mechanical issue, or incorrect fluid level, you may want to consider having the transmission flushed. The fluid gets tired and dirty over time and will decrease transmission performance. The fluid should be red in color. If its brownish or almost black its time to have it changed.
There are lots of things that can affect the engine and transmission. Mainly: Air Filter, Engine Oil and Oil Filter, Plugs and Plug Wires, Transmission Fluid, and the Fuel Filter. If you dont know how old these items are, or if they are the originals I recommend you replace them. Any of these alone can contribute to the issue you mentioned.

Where is the commen oil leak on a 97 ford taurus

Maybe, maybe not, It's most likely a bad rear seal or worn main bearings but check the oil filter just to be safe. Sometimes things go wrong when changing the oil filter that can cause similar symptoms.
1) old gasket left behind.
2) cross threaded filter.
3) loose filter.
4) damage gasket or defective new filter.

I would change the fuel pressure regulator first, if no change in pressure the fuel pump is on the way out.I have a 01 silverado 4.8 and my fuel pressure is between 55and60 psi.
