I have a problem starting my sephia. I usually have to let it crank for about 7 seconds or so. then stop and when I let it crank again for about 3 seconds then the engine will start. Does anyone know what the problem could be? thanks. by the way it is the 1.8l DOHC with a 5 speed tranny. Thanks, Jeff I have a 2001 Kia Sephia. It has been to the dealership 4 times for not starting. It will crank but not start. They keep telling me that it won't "do it" for them. This morning I went to pick it up (still not working) and it actually started at the dealership. Imagine that. I have looked on line and found a lot of people have the same problem with their car. What should I tell the dealership to do? I have 74,000 miles on it and very frustrated.
What i think it is the starter siinoid is not being relesed and the cars motor is not turing over.jack it up and have some one try to turn it on but make sure the back wheels are secured. it sound like the starters silinoid is no releseing when you turn the key over.the starters silinoid is geting stuck. hope that helps let me know what happens
