The first step is to see what error code(s) are present. I suspect that a sensor or two may have been left unplugged or the harness is damaged during the trans swap. Check for bent pins in the connectors.
There is normally no way you can turn it on or off. It is automatically managed by the coputer and it will normally tell you when the engine is running on a lean mode or not.
Try to test the car on a straight flat road @ 80Kms/hr with very constant slight acceleration and see whether the light comes on. If not then you might have the light bulb on the dash blown.
