If you have checked and discounted the relay, the only things left are the headlight switch and the wiring and to the headlights. Try the switch first. It is not impossible that both bulb's low beam filaments may have fused at the same time, unlikely but not impossibly. (It will not be fuses, unless two fuses blew together).
Once the check engine light came on the code should have registered even if the light went off again the code should still be there even if the light is off. These codes only go away if you erase them with a scanner or disconnect the battery.Have the mechanic check the fuses I had a problem on a kia that also had no power and had blown a fuse.If my assistance was helpful please take the time to rate my assistance most people dont take the time we just like to know that our time and assistance are being appreciated thank you.
I have this same problem, too, on my driver's side. If I tap the headlight a couple of times, it will come back on. I haven't replaced the bulb yet; the Fonzie move seems to work for now.
Fuse is probably blown out. Replace fuses for respective functions. Find the fuse box: might be in engine near battery or below steering wheel. open top and check for blown fuses. Try replacing if blown fuses are found. If all fuses are OK then it is very unlikely that all the bulbs are blown.
