The TCC solenoid is located in the side cover of the transmission you gain access threw the left front wheel well area after removing the splash guard. There is a access ]cover that you remove and its located in the valve body. If you are going to all the trouble to unplug it then you should replace it they are inexpensive and not to difficult to replace once you gain access to them.

I have a 1993 cutlass oldsmobile ciera and when i go to stop and start breaking the car starts jumping and dies out. what could the problem be?

There was a common fix for your car. Your ciera has a lock up torque converter when you go into opverdrive there is a wire connection on the side of your transmission it feeds power to a solenoid located on the valvebody, it is supposed to disengauge when you are comming down to a stop, if it does not it feels like you have a standard transmission in it and to forgot to push in the clutch. Try disconnecting the connector and drive it, if it does not stall you have found the problem.

My 1993 Olds Cutlass Supreme drives great most of the time. But after putting gas in it, as I am tooling along within the next 1/2 hour, if I slow down to turn or stop, the car begins to shudder and...

The problem is " The Torque Converter Clutch, (TCC) solenoid" is what actually causes the TCC to engage and disengage. When the TCC solenoid receives a signal from the ECM, it opens a passage in the valve body and hydraulic fluid applies the TCC. When the ECM signal stops, the solenoid closes the valve and pressure is vented causing the TCC to disengage. If the TCC fails to disengage when the vehicle comes to a stop, the engine will stall. This is a common problem with older GM vehicles.

Trying to find the lock up converter on my 1991 oldsmobile cutless cierra

It is the torque converter. It is located between the engine flexplate and the transmission front seal in the bell housing. I believe what you are looking for is the torque converter lockup solenoid. it is behind the side transmission cover on the left.
