The thermostat is the most common issue. Make sure you don't have a leak and your fans are working first. If the fan is not, it has a fuse. If that checks out, change the thermostat.

Reset radio

wireing fault try a voltage meter on the live wires if there is nothing then go back to the fuse box try the votage meter there if there is power going to that point then replace the live wire or you could try running the radio off the ignition live wire to see if that works
and try the other fuse box in the engine bay

Saturn Ion running loud and rough

Check for other loose heat shields.
The shield you removed would allow more noise to enter the cabin too.

97 continental over heats . radiator fans works, we even connected fans directly to batt for cont run. drove about 90 miles with heater on,with full of water, fans runing continously, it still got very hot ...

One thing people tend to look over is the very inexpensive reservoir/overflow tank cap. These tend to lose pressure over time due to heat rotting the seal.

Fan in 97 saturn sl 1 will not run unless connected to battery what could be the problem we've already replaced the relay we had to replace the water pump because it was leaking now we realize that it was...

Hi there, this is your sender unit that teh wires connect to on the radiator. Basically when the radiator heats up to approx 95 degrees Celcius the sender unit makes a contact that creates a circuit to drive the fan. If this is malfunctioning the circuit will not be made and the fan will not run.

hope this helps

My S belt snapped on my 2000 Saturn SL2, and the engine immediately over-heated, and something cracked, causing radiator fluid to leak everywhere. I was told by a friend that it's part of the heating...

282420f.jpeg Does your engine look similar to this. IF you're referring to the wording on the cover, this is the valve cover. This is the only piece i'm thinking that has this. But this should not leak radiator fluid to leak. With the car overheating and something cracking, it could be the radiator busted or the head/block could be cracked. Try to fill the radiator up and see if it starts leaking. I'm just wondering if your water pump locked down or any of the other pulley's causing the belt to snap. If you would like send a picture to me at [email protected] of the part and I can better help you.

Bought saturn SL 2000 at auction, drove it home and it's steaming out of radiator cap, filled with new antifreeze and bought new cap, appears to be leaking out and there is a light on on the dash of course...

The light is letting you know that the engine is oveheating. You did not mention how many miles are on the car, so the over heating could be a number of factors; Thermostat is stuck closed, cooling fan is not operating, radiator is leaking...to name a few.

Air conditioner works but no heat. Air blows cold air but no hot air.02 saturn slr

The inside heat is provided by a small radiator running engine coolant. If you don't have heat and you don't have scolding water pouring on your feet  then the coolant isn't running - most likely the valve controlling the flow is broken, replace it.It's easy to find, its located on one of the pipes leading from the engine and going inside the dash, with a control cable attached to it.

Saturn 2002 sl - heat suddenly not working. Friend put in a temp sensor and flushed radiator/ new coolant. Next step ? Any ideas most welcome

replace flow control valve. theres a switch that allows the fluid to flow into the heater core this is what im saying is the fault. try that my next suggestion would be to replace the heater core.

Where can I get a wiring diagram for a 2003 saturn vue? After turning the air off, and the knob setting to zero, then turning the car off, I can hear the fan running for some time (like 10 minutes)...

That is the normal if your taking about the radiator ran, as long as the engine is hot, the radiator fan will run till the engine cools down enough for the temperature sensor to turn off the radiator fans. Your Saturn is 2003 and if you have not serviced the cooling system it may be time. The orange antifreeze has a life of 5 years or 150,000 miles and the green antifreeze has a life of 1 year or 30,000 miles. If the antifreeze has not been replaced, it may be a good thing to have the system flushed out with Preston radiator flush and then the antifreeze replaced with a 50/50 mix (water/antifreeze). If your not sure how to mix the antifreeze, you can buy them 50/50 premixed, With then new coolant, your engine can transfer the heat much better and will cool down faster. Note, too much water will boil over and too much antifreeze will gel up causing over heating. Good luck and hope this helps, keep me posted, be glad to answer any questions you may have.

I been told taht its needs a head gasket

The head gasket separates each of the following from each other - coolant, oil, cylinder bores, and atmosphere. The head gasket can fail in such a way that oil and coolant will not mix, but coolant will still disappear - if the head gasket ruptures in a way that allows coolant to either exit the engine (a tear from the coolant jacket to the outside) or to allow coolant into the cylinders to be burned off (coolant jacket to cylinder bore), then you'd never see evidence of it in the oil, but your coolant would still disappear.

There's not much you can do other than keep adding coolant while you save up for the head gasket job. Still, you have been told that it's a $1500 job, but call around anyhow - that seems pretty high to me, even for a V6 engine. Call independent shops and not dealerships (most dealers are signficantly more expensive although they do have the advantage of more model-specific experience). Ask friends and neighbors who they would recommend, and check with the shops they say. You may find it to not be as expensive as you're expecting.
