2000 grand am se heater problem in the dash as described as being the actuator? motor comes up to temp,not overheating-blower motor works on all seting but as if temp switch on dash dont work. ---answers as to how to please!

As far as heat, does the engine reach normal operating temp? Do the heater hoses get hot? Can you check circulation through the heater core?
Check the actuator doors under the dash, see if properly operating?

check the blend door actuator

Check fuses 52 15A and 51 15A in the underhood fuse box. Check the Blower motor relay behind the right side of dash. Check the fan control amplifier (controls fan speed) behind right side of dash. Sound more like a blown fuse or bad blower motor relay

The blend door may not be working properly. It is actuated by a vacuum motor.

Blower Motor Control Module Removal & Installation To Remove:

1. Remove the insulator from the right side of the instrument panel.
2. Disconnect the connectors from the blower motor resistor and blower motor.
3. Loosen the two forward screws and remove the rear screw of the resistor assembly.
4. Remove the blower motor resistor assembly.

To Install:
Install the blower motor resistor assembly. Install the rear screw and tighten the forward screws. Connect the electrical connectors to the blower motor and resistor assembly. Install the insulator under the right side of the instrument panel.

On the 2000 Grand Caravan series, the fan blower resistor is located on the firewall, inside the engine compartment. It will be under the passenger side windshield wiper. It can be remover lith little difficulity. A hook shaped tool is invaluable for getting it out. Clean and grease the terminals in the plug before you replace the resistor.

Under the fan motor, as described above is the actuator for controlling the recirculated air vent. You may want to check this also. It is found as described above.

Miy actuator started to fail, then the resistor failed, then I had a weak battery. They all may have been related, or just bad luck. This all happened during the ongoing heat wave in Pennsylvania, where the temps were exceeding 100 degrees F. So you could easily see what may have been the triggering factor.

Make sure the compressor is engaged an running,and the dryer is cold,if so,then the temp door actuator motor is not working,it is in the dash mounted on the blower box,the dash will have to be pulled out toward the seats to replace the actuator motor

are u sure its the blower motor or heater control modular,,what is wrong with blower,,not working ?

if your vehicle has the electronic climate control, it is probably the blend door motor/actuator that has failed and is stuck at the temp that was last entered in the climate control unit when it failed. this can be a very time consuming repair to do as it is under the dash. the other possibility is your coolant level is low and not allowing the heater core to bring the outside air up to the temp you want. if that is the case,your low coolant temp sensor should have come on. if not, then the thermostat could be either stuck open or closed. if stuck open the engine would not always show the temp gauge at normal operating temp of 195-200 degrees. if stuck closed the engine should be overheating according to the temp gauge. you did not mention what the operating coolant temp was!

You have a temp door not open.This could be vacuum related,or it could be a temp door actuator motor gone out.If you are mechanicaly incline,look under dash,behind the glove box and all the way across the ac/heater box/duct.You will find witch vacuum servo,or actuator motor controls the temp door by process of elemination.Move each control (temp,defrost,floor vent recirculation,max air,etc.Watch each one underneth the dash until one of them does not move,this one will be the one to work with manually.Disconect actuator motor completley,or pull the servo to make the door move.If it is a actuator motor,after you remove the motor,you will see a arm type mechanisum to move.This will tell you for sure that this is the actuator to replace.If it is a vacuum servo that is not moving,check for a bad vacuum,or vacuum switch on the ac control/Be sure you have good vacuum under hood going to the firewall(near windshield)Also there might a check valve near the firewall that is bad,or vacuum hose sucked together or split.If I can help you any further.let me [email protected]
