I also have a 2006 Dodge Dakota and the tail light is not working but brake lights still worksas well as the emergency and back up light?? I replaced the bulb with a tested working new one, replaced the fuse but still no tail light. With a test light check if you have power there with lights on and with lights off, compare left side with right side as far as location in the tail lamp plug for the tail lamp park lights.Trace the harness back to the left side underneath usual corrosion in this area.
These are all different circuits. The brake lights are on a 10amp fuse - the headlights are on a 50amp fuse - and the parking and dash lights are on a 20amp fuse. Do you have power going into the headlight switch and the brake light switch ?
If both tail lights are not working it is likely to be a fuse or bad connection under the hood or a connector at the back see if you can trace the wires to a connector and see if it is dirlty or corroded.
check fuse first, or it's a ground problem somewhere try new ground wire at interor light and on at brake light , regound them right at the problems to steel
