My 2002 Mercury Mountaineer, v8, AWD, just died, it wont start, the battery is still good, a friend of mine checked and he said that it could be the starter or the electrial area. he said that when he checked the eletrical, there was one that seem looser than the others and for the starter-it may not be it because there was no noise at all when we drove it....I just drove 15mintues before it died on me and it was running normal..what could b the problem?

I cant solve this problem but my cousin is having the same exact problem. she drove it for just a few mins and it was running fine. then all of a sudden it just cut off by itself just as if you would have turned the switch off. and it wont start back. it wont even turn over, the fuel pump will not HUM the only noise you hear are the relay clicking under the hood. crazy...

I know t has been a couple years now but if this ever happens to anyone else have the anti theft looked at by a professional first. That was the problem. Hope this helps.

I have a mercury mountaineer 2002 awd 4.6litre that stalled without warning and now wont start, it also turns over like a low battery but had battery and alternator checked at two different places bo

Its a possibility but I would think the fuel pump? That's where I would start. If it turns but doesn't crank then your most likely not getting gas.

My airbag light on my 2002 mercury mountaineer continiously stays illuminated any reason why and how to fix it?

This is probably a seat sensor but it could be the pretensioners or the air bag. When the vehicle is started, there is a sensor test that is run on the SRS (air bag) and if it finds something wrong, the light comes on. Given that this is a life safety device and there are hazardous parts in it, you should take it to a dealer to have it worked on.

My 2003 Mercury Mountaineer V8 AWD transfer case needs to be replaced. What problems can occur if left untreated?

the problem is the chain inside strechs, could cause case damage, it will soon break and then truck wont move, depending on how bad it is you may be able to drive a bit more, threres just alot of strain there because of it being awd, if it is noisey it doesnt have to be replaced just fixed, good luck.
