I have a 1992 ford f250 diesel when I am accelerating or coasting even with the engine off I get a strong chattering from underneath truck. The chattering is not in the front end, no steering wheel movement, what else could it be??

It could be several things. One that come to mind is a driveshaft universal joint starting to fail. Or a broken transmission or engine mount? Jack up the rear of the vehicle and support the vehicle with jack stands. Rotate the rear wheels and see if you can duplicate the chatter or noise. Also inspect the drive axle joints (if your vehicle is 4x4). Not sure how far you have taken to diagnose this issue, but these are areas to consider.

Sounds good. I know rotating noises could be difficult to pin point, especially while the vehicle is travelling down the road.

1992 Ford Diesel Bad fuel milage - lots of black smoke coming out of the exhaust under a load or when I accelerate

Sounds like you have more than one problem here. Your best bet would be to start with a major tune-up. Be Sure Change all your filters.

Intermitent check engine light on 1992 f250 5.8 comes on hard excel and coast

does the check engine light stay on for an extended period of time after it first appears? if so you could drive the truck to any auto zone and they should have a diagnostic computer there they can plug into your truck and if you can read the code the computer threw you will be able to narrow down the issue you are having. whether its O2 sensor, misfire... you get the idea. Good luck!

Water in fuel system of a Ford F250 diesel engine.

there is an additive at most auto parts stores and even some gas stations, i forget the name but if you read the bottle it will say something about removing water from the fuel system, they are generally located next to the "octane booster" or "fuel system cleaners"
