1990 Ford Tempo Logo

I have a 1990 Ford Tempo. I have a new battery, as of four months ago. It has begun to not run though. I have had to get it jumped to get it started and last week when driving, coming to a stop sign it just died. Was able to jump it to get it home but then it wouldn't restart. I jumped it yesterday to let it run since its cold out and today after a couple of tries it did start, I let it idle for maybe 20 minutes and shut it off and tried to restart and it wouldn't. Sounded like the battery was already going dead. I have replaced the alternator, maybe 5 months ago granted with a used one. The belt is fine, it has gas, and like I stated that battery is not very old at all. I have replaced the fuel filter also maybe 4 months ago. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you

I work for an Advance Auto parts and I see this a lot. I would bring it into one of these stores and ask them to do a full charging system check. If they come back as bad I would seek any warranty on the battery, alternator, or both if there is any. You have to remember that there are a lot of things that can go wrong when it comes to electricity.

If you can get it to an autozone or somewhere like that, have that alternator tested, and the battery as well.

1990 ford tempo starts but will die after about 10 minutes. the power from the battery is drained and we just bought a brand new battery for it.

Try to start again, then when the engine is start, remove the negative or positive battery cable, and if the engine die, the alternator is failed., and if not dying, alternator still good. But for me the way you said, I'm 100% your alternator is died. Need to replace a new one. And if you know how to solder, just remove and replace the brusses( carbon) by soldering. ok

My tempo stoped running wile driving in the snow. smoke or steam was cumming out of the back of the engine now my tempo wont start the engine wont even turn to try to start

Take care of cranking 1st, check battery see if it's good, try to get a jump start see if it will turn over, could be a bad alternator or battery.

Battery draining fast

I would check the alternator again, it apparently isn't charging the battery with engine running. You need a volt meter or amp meter to test this. Also does the battery discharge when the car is not running?

Need fuse diagram for 1990 ford tempo.

Horns generally don't have fuses. Judging from the year it could be shot. replace with a new one as they are generally pretty cheap.
