My 1995 Villager driver side window glass just dropped into the door frame. Motor still runs but nothing happens to the glass. What could go wrong and is it easy to fix? Thanks.

If you are not familiar with the inside of a door panel, have a mechanic fix the problem, this is most likely a window regulator that has failed and needs replacing.

You have a problem with the window regulator. the motor is no longer engaed with the regulator, which physically moves the glass. get a manual and give it a try yourself, but i would recommend having a pro do this.

Driver side window will not roll up on my Chrysler 200

Hello, Marla -

I hope I am correct in thinking the automobile window is an electric power window. If so . . .

The motor for running the power window mechanism most likely needs replacing. Or, a part of the frame holding the glass has broken and needs replacing.

I recommend you make an appointment with the auto mechanic where you usually take your car and have her / him determine what is wrong and give you an estimate of the repair cost.

The last time I had the mechanism for one of my car's power windows repaired - motor and frame (about 3 years ago), the cost was about $800. My car is a Volkswagen Jetta.

Best wishes.

How do I manually raise my window/ driver side rear?

You have to pull the inner door panel off first, to do anything with the window. This is the hardest part of the work, the rest is fairly easy. Once you can see inside to the window motor and regulator for the window, maybe you can see what is wrong with it. Try pushing up on the glass while working the regulator arms to see if you can raise it.
While the panel is off, use jumper wires from a spare battery set down by the door to see if the motor is good. Pull the two electrical connectors off of the window motor to hook up the jumper wires. If nothing happens, try reversing the jumper wires: this is how power goes into the motor depending on the switch position being up or down. The motor can take power from either post, while the other post serves as the ground wire. If the motor is not working, it can be removed with the regulator assembly all as a unit. If the window motor works now with real juice, you have a problem in the switch or the wiring, as ray suggests, right in the door opening.

Where is the power window relay located in a 2002 mercury villager?

Principles of Operation
The driver power window regulator motor is controlled directly by the master window/door lock/unlock switch (and its integrated "auto down" module). Power is supplied to the power window relay and the master window/door lock/unlock switch, and the passenger power window switch when the SEC/timer module grounds the coil side of the power window relay. The SEC/timer module will ground this relay when the ignition is in the ON position and will remain energized for approximately 15 minutes or until the driver or passenger door is opened.
The driver power window regulator motor is a reversible motor that is operated by applying power and ground to the motor leads to lower the window, and then reversing polarity on those leads to raise the window.
The passenger power window regulator motor is controlled directly by the passenger power window switch and can also be controlled by the master window/door lock/unlock switch.
The passenger power window regulator motor is a reversible motor, which is operated by applying power and ground to the motor leads to lower the window, and then reversing polarity on those leads to raise the window.
The power rear quarter glass is also directly controlled by the master window/door lock/unlock switch. The power rear quarter glass power latches also utilize reversible motors. The power rear quarter glass power latches are operated by applying power and ground to the motor leads to open the window, and then reversing polarity on those same leads to close the window.

While driving my 1996 Dodge Stratus, it was cold outside, and when I went to lower the window, the window was frozen shut and would not go down, later, apparently after the car warmed up, the window...

The reason this happened was because the window glass was frozen in place. When you operated the switch to try and lower the window the torque from the window motor caused the glass to separate from the window regulator. Once it warmed up, the glass was free to drop down in the door because the window regulator had already traveled in the down position.

1 of 3 things hapened
1 you droped the glass out of the frame out of the botom
2 you broke the cable
3 you striped the grars on the wheel in the door on the arm
open the door panel and look at it use a miror and a flash light it might not be easy but it is cheep to figure out whats wrong also if it is just striped at full botom out then use the window just dont drop it all the way when you have time and cash go to scrap yard and salvage parts required to fix it use small short boltd instead of ribits to hold the replacement in when doing the re install

the window glass sits in a metal frame attatched to the glass itself, this in turn runs on a scossor framework with 2 nylon wheels attatched.....sounds like the glass frame has run off the scossor frame....remove door panel, and place the framework on the glass part, back onto the scossor wheels, also add some grease to the framework
