I own a ford festiva 1992 model, the car has been very reliable. just yesterday I notice a knocking noise that seems to come when turning the steering wheel from left to right even if the car is stationary. The nocking nise is louder if someone is seated in the car. Note: I had both front wheel ball joints replaced approx 2 years ago. Any assistance in pointing out what the probelm could be would be greatly appreciated.

Wheel bearing, steering tie rod ends, steering rack or maybe but not likely a bad cv axel, only a few possiblities, i had this exact model car for few years and anyone should be able to figure it out if you take your time and jack car up or drive on ramp and have a friend turn steering wheels left and right till you find the noise, good luck

You should have your upper strut mounts and tie rod ends checked out. Many times when your ball joints wear out these parts are not to far behind them and can be in need of replacement. It would be a good idea to have the front end inspected, because the problem could be a safety issue. Some shops will give you a free estimate, in hopes of getting the repair job. I would use a shop that does front end alignment they will often offer better prices, and they tend to specialize in front end repairs. Good luck with it.

1992 Ford Festiva 3 speed transmission diagram

I have not found this online. I have seen ads selling this workshop manual for over $80.

Here are a couple of prospects: https://www.ebay.com/itm/164496738845

https://www.emanualonline.com/cars/ford/festiva/ford-festiva-workshop-repair-and-service-manual-1992-emo-3576.html

If choosing the 2nd option, use their contact link to figure out what they mean by offline use. Maybe it is simply an e-book or the manual that you download. And clarify if possible wheter this is for a 5 speedor 3 speed.

You might have more luck with a Haynes manual.

Front tire won't come off

Sit on your but and kick the tire with both feet. The tire is stuck. Some tire repairmen use a large sludge hammer and hit the tire, don't hit the rim.

Car seems to be running verry hot not steaming

make sure the electric fan is turning on. it it is not you can pull the wire from the plug that is next to the thermostat housing and it should turn on and run all the time, if it is not bad. Make sure your thermostat is not sticking closed.
