Find a dirt or gravel road or driveway and accelerate hard from a complete stop. If it is in 4wd, the vehicle should take off with little or no wheel spin. If it is in 2wd, the back wheels will spin easily. Be careful and maintain full control of your vehicle while doing this.

Put it neutral and then hit the button for 4 Wheel drive. It should work then and do the same to take it off 4 wheel drive.
