There is a plastic ring that holds the bulb in place . You need to spin the ring counter clockwise to unhook the ring from the reflector. If the battery is in the way you may have to remove it before taking out the headlight. The wire harness unplugs from the back of the bulb but may be stuck. If you try to unplug the harness before removing the bulb you might brake the retaining ring. Therefore, turn the ring, wiggle the bulb free of the reflector, then get a grip on the bulb and work the harness plug off the bulb. Now place new bulb in the reflector, put on the retaining ring and turn clockwise till it stops, plug in the bulb harness, and test the bulb by turning on high and low beam.

This is correct except your dont need to loosen any screws, at on my 03 galant you dont. The wire clip is a spring clip and just need to be unclipped and it will swing out of the way.

How to change headlight on 2000 galant

  • 1
Place the Mitsubishi on a flat service in park. Set the parking brake before continuing.

  • 2Open the Galant's hood and locate the headlight cover -- roughly 3-inch wide circular piece of plastic -- behind the headlight bulb intended for replacement. Turn this cover clockwise to unlock it and pull it from the headlight assembly, exposing the headlight socket below it.

    3

Hold the rear of the headlight socket and turn it counterclockwise to unlock it. Pull the headlight socket and bulb from the headlight assembly.

    4

Grab the bulb and pull it from the socket with a slight wiggling motion.

    5

Pick up the new 9003 headlight bulb using a clean, lint-free cloth and line up its prong with the slots in the socket. Never tough the bulb with your bare hands, as the oils left by your hands can cause the bulb to burn out prematurely.

    6

Slide the socket and new bulb into the headlight assembly and turn the socket clockwise to lock it into place.

    7

Place the plastic cover behind the bulb and turn it counterclockwise to lock it into place.

    8

Repeat Steps 1 through 7 for the headlight bulb on the other side of the Galant, if needed.

    9Close the Galant's hood.

How to change a front headlight on a 2003 mitsubishi galant

some models require you to remove the grill first to access the headlight mounting bolt and there is also the concern of the aim set bolt. be careful not to brake any of the hard to get to and easily breakable plastic parts or install may be more expensive than you may think. if you mean "change the bulb" simply find the electrical connector that lines up with where you can see the bulb from the outside and turn the connector a quarter turn and pull the bulb out from the rear. then remove the bulb while holding the socket firmly so as to not separate any wires. install is reverse of removal hope this helps

    Changing headlights

The headlights for the Galant are accessed from the engine compartment. First remove the electrical connection from the rear of the headlight, It will be very stubborn. As you pull on the connector try to hold the bulb in place as its only held in place with a spring clip. Once you have managed to remove the connector remove the rubber cover. There are a couple of rubber tabs to grab on to. This will give you access to the spring clip that is actually holding the bulb in place. Push the clip in and over to the side and the bulb will be free. Installation is the opposite of the removal. The bulb has three alignment tabs that allow the bulb to be installed only one way.

I recommend after getting the bulb in place and the rubber cover on putting a little bulb grease on the three male connectors on the bulb before you reconnect it to the female socket. It will make it much easier next time. Also remember to never touch the glass portion of the bulb. Any foreign material on the bulb will greatly shorten it's life.

2003 MITSUBISHI GALANT HOW TO REPLACE HEADLIGHT BULB

First you disconnect the 3 prong electric plug. To disconnect squeeze the side tabs together (hard) and pull away from the bulb, then you can pull off the protective rubber covering, (its a little snug so give it a tug from the 2 tabs on the top and bottom).

Next unscrew the little Phillips head screw to loosen the bracket that clips in the bulb (take note of how the clip is installed before you remove it, it holds the bulb securely in place).
Just loosen the screw as you do not need to remove it all the way. Pull out the old bulb and replace it with the new one.

The bulb has 3 spacing tabs on it so it can only go in one way. Make note of this when you remove it so you may replace it the same way. follow the steps in reverse and your done.
Note: The little wire clip that holds the bulb in can be a pain. Make sure you get a really good look at it, since it pops out as soon as you loosen the screw. If you get lost, you can always look at the other headlight. Oh, and don't do this in the dark.

I need to clean or replace the headlight globe

your headlights are leaking water inside, and with the heat from the bulbs it condenses into fogginess, let me give an idea! if you have access to the bottom of the light, drill a hole that the water can drain.
    that might work.!

I dont know how to change the light bulb on a 2003 mitsubishi

well if its the front headlights, because you weren't specific, heres what you do. First remove the cable harnessthat connects to the back of each light. it will be hard to remove at first if you havent changed the headlights in quite a while. just move the harness to and fro until you feel it removing itself from the bulb. As soon as you have the harness removed, you then remove the black rubber protectant. After that you will see a silver wire which holds the bulb in place. The wire opens outwards so there is a v shaped end to the wire. push that part in and pull it down it, it should open up leaving only the light bulb hanging out. Sorry i made it so long but i hope it will help you!!!

How to change the headlight bulb on a 2001 mitsubishi galant?

On either side of the headlight wiring assembly, in the engine compartment, you will find 2 small tabs. They are located to the sides and towards the bulb of the plastic assembly. Press these 2 tabs in while pulling the wire assembly out. Remove the rubber gasket and unhook the wire spring holding the bulb in place. The bulb come right out. The bulbs are halogen so do not handle the new bulb by the glass.
