1994 Volkswagen MK1 golf knocking noise

Every time I pull off in my MK1 golf there is a strange knocking noise coming from under the bonnet. I was told that it is engine mountings, and I had it replaced, twice, using pirate and original VW parts, but still the noise persists. I think it might be gearbox related. CV joint are fine. Help will be appreciated, Thanks

Very simple.... I had this problem and it drove me Crazy.... your gearbox engine mount is gone. When you look at it it will look fine but when under load it moves. creating the knocking noise..

Use a crowbar (Very carefully) to move the engine to check.

Hi my 1986 golf MK1 makes a knocking noise in the front which sounds like its on the body while driving, please help.

Those bushes would have to be shredded or missing for it to make a knocking sound. And should be a visible problem, I would think.

"Check Oil" warning light comes on at randum

Probably nothing whatsoever to do with you checking the dipstick. On the golf when the warning light flashes, you reset it by opening the bonnet. That is why you think that when you check the dipstick it resets, when in fact it was opening the bonnet. Check your bonnet switch

Renault clio bonnet wont open

Get a second person to pull bonnet catch and you push up and down on the bonnet whilst catch is being pulled. 1, cable possibly stretched, 2, look at bonnet catch under the coloum to see if wire is attached, 3, try and lie under car and look up the back of the bulkhead to see the catch and release it manually. Hope that helps.
