Question about 1994 Volkswagen Golf
Every time I pull off in my MK1 golf there is a strange knocking noise coming from under the bonnet. I was told that it is engine mountings, and I had it replaced, twice, using pirate and original VW parts, but still the noise persists. I think it might be gearbox related. CV joint are fine. Help will be appreciated, Thanks
Very simple.... I had this problem and it drove me Crazy.... your gearbox engine mount is gone. When you look at it it will look fine but when under load it moves. creating the knocking noise..
Use a crowbar (Very carefully) to move the engine to check.

if you hear this noise when the car running , so you must to check your hand break cable from the back of the car maybe its attached to your rear wheel and in this case you hear a noise from the bonnet , so check the hand break cable from rear and see the result
