there are some models of BMW that do not have a dip stick. BMW figured people were doing more harm than good with a dip stick, being able to put in whatever fluid they wanted so they took the dip tick out of some models. the only way to get your oil checked is to go to a dealer or mechanic...
You'll have two dip sticks under your hood on the engine. One will be for oil the other for tansmission fluid. You can tell you have the transmission because the fluid is a bright redish color where as the oil should be clearish or black, Denpending on your last oil change. The dip sticks are usually on opisit sides or the engine from eachother but could be on the same side. To check your transmission fluid then you need the emergency brake on and the car in neutral and the motor running. On the dip stick there is notches or tiny lines telling you how much is in it. Here;s a very important point to remember. Transmissipon fluid is checked and measured by pints unlike the oil dip stick which is in quarts. So the marks on the dip stick for the tranny will be one pint per mark. To add transmission fluid they sell a skinny long tube funnel that goes directly into the stem that holds the dip stick. You must shut the engine off to add the fluid and restart it in neutral to recheck it. I hope I have been of some service to you and please be kind with your thumbs up for me. good Luck, Raz
as per BMW the correct engine oil in your car is CASTROL TWS MOTORSPORT 10w60, the engine holds 7 quarts with a new filter, hope this helps,P;ease rate my fix as i strive to be thr best. Thanks Ray
Your Z3 has the M54 series engine. the oil dip-stick is on the driver's side, toward the rear of the engine. Notice the small red top of the dip-stick, in the photo, between the intake manifold and the brake fluid reservoir (behind the silver stressbar).
The BMW 525I doesn't have a dip stick. The oil level is checked using the "i" menu. Select service status and from there you should choose "check engine oil level".
either is antifreeze or is the oil light.
cooling tank is in the front of the car. look for a fan, the cooling tank is infront of the fan. open the cap (make sure the car is cold). and see if there is water or antofreez in it. add as you needed. also follow a tube from the side of the filler neck. you should see a container, that should be a over flow container. fill that to the line on the container. close the cap. and make a 90 degree turn. it should be tight.
the oil is on the button of the engine. you should see a dip stick with a color handle near the engine. pull it out and use a paper towel clean it, put it back and pull it out again. take a look at the tip of the stick. there should a marking indicating where the oil should be. half qt of oil if dip stick shows half way between the mark, and full qt if the dip stick indicated below the marker. fill the engine (filler is on top of the engine.) with oil.
