Go in this order-
-make sure the fluid resivoir is full and the cap on
-crack both front bleeders loose and allow them to "gravity bleed"
-once you see fluid constantly dripping out of the bleeder close them
-do the same with the rear
-after you have gravity bled the brakes grab a partner and have them pump the brake 4 to 5 times holding the pedal down on the fifth time
have them say "holding" while you crack the right rear bleeder-once the pedal hits the floor they should say "floor" and hold it there while you tighten the bleeder. repeat until you see nothing but fluid squirt out.
repeat this whole process in this order
right rear
left rear
right front
left front
make sure to continually check the brake fluid level so it doesnt get too low
this should work unless the master cylinder leaked dry from replacing the lines-if this happened you will most likely have to bleed or even replace the master cylinder

Have a 1991 dodge dakota, have replaced everything , still cant get brakes to work.

How about the rubber flex hoses restricted

In the rear you have an abs hcu you can throw way
& bypass, then unplug the controller up under the dash
on the passenger side

Also the rear brake cables won't work for rust, they have to go also

I had a 1992 Dakota for 18 years

Leave the wire off the proportioning valve as the vehicle is wired wrong & if your bleeding it ,it will melt down the wires in the ignition switch (been there) Vehicle is not the same as the factory wiring diagrams

Front right brake is stuck on 99 dakota

your problem sounds like a seized caliper. You will need a mechanic to unseize it and replace the caliper. Parts are generally not expensive but to do it yourself you will need knowledge of bleeding brake lines. The caliper is what pushes the brake pads tight against the rotor to stop you. when you release the brakes, the caliper loosens. when it seizes, it just doesn't release

Precedure on flushing brake line in my dakota

The best way to really flush out the brake lines it to thoroughly bleed the system in the normal manner. You could disconnect the brake lines at all the possible points and blow them through with alcohol and then blow them dry with air, but the bleeding method is quite adequate, you should use at least a pint of brake fluid and ensure that you bleed each point until clear new fluid comes out of each bleeder point. Always keep the reservoir fill to avoid getting air into the system. This is something that should actually be done at least every two years as routine service and do not be lured ito discussions about DOT 3 and DOT 4 fluids. DOT 4 has replaced DOT 3 fluid as a superior upgrade to the older outdated fluid. Silicone fluids are available you would need to clean out and overhaul you complete brake system to use them. They are not compatible with Glycol based fluids.

What special tool is need to bleed brakes on 1999 gmc sierra? Had to replace all lines due to rust. I can only get the front driver side to bleed. The brake peddle is like steeping on steel. ...

You can actually bleed each caliper at the brake line connection to the caliper...you will need someone to depress the brake pedal, or you can borrow the auto bleed brake pedal tool from your local auto parts store...sounds like you can fix this yourself...the symptom says..."air in lines"...Hope this helps.

I have a 2001 Dodge Dakota that will not lock up the brakes. Everything has been replaced and it coasts to a stop. The pedel goes to the floor at full stop . Master cyl, prop valve, new lines, and...

Master cylinter is shot is my first thought. if it has been replaced with a referb.. replace it again. make sure you bench bleed the master cylinder before putting it on.. if it's new, you have a ton of air in the lines.. bleed the pass rear first/ drivers rear/ pass front/ pass rear.. FYI your brakes/ tires should never lock up, you have ABS.
