HI. Usually when you receive the same code after replacing the O2 sensor, this will confirm that the original O2 was not the issue. This will be a shorted or open connector or wiring harness at the affected O2 sensor that was replaced. If possible, you can confirm this by using a multimeter. Use the meter to test the connector contacts that connect to the O2 that you replaced. I'm sure that harness or connector may be open or the ground in that particular connector is bad(open circuit).

Are you absolutely sure that you replaced the correct side sensor. It has two front (upstream) oxygen sensors. Aftermarket intake or exhaust components can cause this code. Poor connection at O2 wires possible. Could be wrong part number sensor.

I put 2 brand new catalic converters on last week and the light came back on.

You did not mention if you replaced the o2 sensors. Chances are if the cats were bad, the o2 sensors were also burnt up. I would recommend changing the sensors anytime you change the catalytic converters.

What do the code 44 mean and whats to be repaired

code 44 set on pre 1995 gm vehicles is a o2 sensor reading lean or bias to .2 volts or less. it could be the o2 sensor, it could be a vacuum leak making the exhaust have too much oxygen thus making the o2 sensor to read lean or put out a lean reading. If the o2 sensor is old 75k-100k it's probably time for a new one anyway. an exhaust leak near (upstream) to the o2 sensor can pull in air even though the exhaust is leaking out and fool the o2 sensor with the added oxygen also. you could also have a fuel delivery problem creating a true lean condition. there are ways a tech can test an o2 sensor to see if it's the sensor or a mechanical problem causing the code.

Just put new cats on 2002 5.9L dodge durango and

P0155 - 02 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2 Sensor 1)

if you aren't getting the corresponding bank 1 sensor 1 code, P0135, you may have gotten the wrong O2 sensor, or perhaps it is defective? There is the chance that if you put some anti-seize on the O2 sensor threads or on the exhaust threads that you may have gotten something on the sensor itself clogging it up....

I believe sensor 1 is pre catalytic converter, but this code refers to the internal heater in the O2 sensor... so if all else fails, you may just have to buy or exchange for another and see if it helps your problem
