Looks like it. Go to each corner of the car, press it down as much as you can and let go quickly. The corner should bounce up a little, down a little and then stay at the mid point - that is a 1.5 bounce. If the car is bouncing more 1.5 times or doesn't bounce at all, then the shock at that corner is bad and need to be replaced.
Shocks don't have a valve for the driver to fill with air. They need to be replaced with new ones.
Based on what you describes, the back corners will not press down and of coarse will not bounce - a definite shocks problem that need to be replaced.
replacing the rear shocks will fix your problem,, you can't see it when your driving, but the back tires are bouncing all over the place, which will give the effect that the car is trying to fishtail, having bad CV joints at the axles will try and turn the front end from side to side also, which would make the problem even worse ,,
Its hard to say for sure but if the brakes work OK in a stright line brakeing situation with on steering wheel shake side to side . Its most likely a ball joint problem . Although it could be a wheel bearing or a blown shock or a tierod end . The best thing you can do is to jack the front of the vehicle up be safe about it put it on stands and block the rear wheels . And see if the wheel moves up and down or side to side i don't mean turn it . If you can feel movenent no matter how minor there is a problem . Then you need to viseuly inspect to parts in the front end compare it to the other side look for riped boots and oil leaking from the shocks if all this looks OK check the wheel bearing it maybe loose . But look at the boots on the upper and lower ball joints and remember any movement at all it a problem it should be tight all parts in the entire front end
rear shock bad (or struts if you have these) see if you push down on the back of the vehicle, like on the trunk lid, if it seems bouncy. Note if your shocks or struts have leaked oil.
You will find that the rear air suspension hose has failed. To check, wieh the car running listen for a loud hiss. That is where the leak is. Take it to a dealer you pay $200 plus. Fix it yourself, fifty cents.
Chanses are the leak willbe at the drvers side rear connector to the shock. hope that helps
The hose is likely the differential vent hose. If you get under there and take a look around the rear end you will likely see where it was originally secured.
the weak spring is making it tip. also you say the other shock is leaking fluid. you need to replace both shocks and springs, the seem to have been worn down, there is no fix other than using spring blocks to boost up the saging side, but i would recommend replacing it all.
im not that familiar with hummers but it sounds like youve found the end of the transmission vent hose or possibly the front differential vent hose and they will have seepage of oil sometimes. however if its a constant oil drippage, then there could be a buildup of pressure inside tranny or rearend. if u follow the hose down to its beginning youll know if its the trans. or differential(rearend). it might be normal to see this fluid,or it could be too much fluid inside trany/rear.
you could replace the one shock but do you know why it is leaking oil? Typically unless there was something traumatic to happen to one of the rear shocks, then if one is going you can almost be the other one will go soon. I ended up having too many problems with the air ride suspensions. If you haven't yet, look into conversion kits as something to consider for down the road if nothing else. www.strutmasters.com has a great kit that is made in America and comes with a lifetime warranty. They have a good reputation and track record and can help you save some money and find the permanent solution if anything else goes wrong.
