My 1987 Porsche 924s cranks and idles good, but will not run over 3000 rpms, starts to spit and sputter, wont go. Any idea to what is wrong?

run the car with the radiator cap off or the expansion tank cap off, which is part of coolant system and is pressurized, not to be confused with an overflow bottle which is not pressurized, and the heater on high. drain some coolant to allow for expansion. look/listen for bubbles. air from the vents should get hot. give it about 20 minutes

Dear Chuck, is there a fan mounted behind this rad- to check if its functioning -turn the a/c on this should make it run-if it doesn't that is your problem- cheers Denny

Yo, Codi. Your problem is a bad EGR diaphragm. It's a bad vacuum leak making it do what you've explained. Replace the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve and this won't happen any more. Good power on demand.

The HT leads do this normally. They brake down when under load just like reving the engine up. I recomend you clean the distributor cup and replace the spark plugs and the HT leads. Good luck....

I think that you need to be more specific when you say that you have changed everything... Because i'm sure that there is MUCH more that has to do with this problem then you may think.... Has the fuel pump fuel pump float pressure regulator and filter been changed out. Also has the crank sensor been changed out. What you the cam sensor?
