Dodge stratus 2004 it ran out of gas and it would start but when i put it in drive it would cut off also a lite with the word deck is now lite up where the d r n 3 2 1 is what dopes this mean

you need to see what trouble code was set when the check engine light came on

that advice is true a jump start should give you enough power to start vehicle ,but the real problem might be in the fact that you ran out of fuel and have maybe tripped out a sensor , by all means try the jump start ,make sure the vehicle you use you keep that engine running with a little revving to give a boost to your vehicle, if it still wont start have the OBD codes read and cleared as the gas supply was cut may have a sensor code that will prevent starting

wont crank as in turn over or wont start? if it wont start it could be a fuel pump. if plugs have spark its fuel related . when you turn on the key most pumps make an audible hum for a few seconds to pressure up the lines for starting

Check the fuel filter for a clog or the MAF sensor.

There is no reset.
The fuse and pump relay should be in the fuse box near the battery.
You may have to disconnect the filter or the rail to let the air out of the system. And you may have plugged up the screen in the tank.

Last time I ran into the problem, the crankshaft postion sensor had gone out (think of it as your points).

90% of the time when a car runs out of gas the fuel pumps goes bad. I'ld getfuel pressure test donefirst.

make sure emergency shut off switch located in trunk is on low on or run out will disengage it.

You likely need a new fuel sending unit (it's in the trunk, and is what drives the gauge).
