How do I replace the window power motor in my 1988 lincoln town car, I can see four rivets holding the regulator and motor in place, is there an easier way other than drilling out the rivets, looks like there would be a lot of loose mechanism after the removal of the rivets.

Most cars American-Made at least, used rivets to hold the mechanism in place. The only way to remove and replace the motor is to drill out the rivets. You can either re-install the new motor with new rivets or most new power window motors come with sheet metal screws included to re-attach the motor to the inside door frame. Either way both methods are very secure and you should have no problems with it not being secure.

How do I remove rear window on a Lincoln town car 1994?

Well it is cheaper to replace the window and regulator they will be sold to gather. If it has not been replaced just pull door panel off unplug motor un bolt to screws that hold window in reg. un screw regulator, Some might have rivets grind them off and use not and bolts to replace them plug new motor in to make sure it is not the switch before you take it all apart

How to take glass out of rear door drivers side?

You have to remove the rubber trim and vent window to be bale to get the door glass out, so you can get the regulator out.
The window is attached to the regulator with two pop rivets that will need to be drilled out. then you have to drill the three rivets that hold the lift motor to the door, drill the two rivets that hold the bottom of the regulator to the door, then you can remove the two 11mm bolts that hold the top to the door. Then you can remove the regulator and lift motor assembly.
Here is a diagram of all the mounting hardware you have to remove to get the regulator out, after you have removed the vent window and rubber seal.

If your car does not have the vent window, then all you have to do to get the glass out is pull the rubber seal around the window out. 17435317-4adb-4cc9-9a5d-653f19be846c.jpg

1991 Lincoln town car window off track

Most likely a broken regulator. That's the part that attaches the motor to the glass. Ford/Lincoln use large rivets to hold everything together. Best left to a professional.

Ford made a window motor gear kit old some of the early model vehicles. i have a 1989 lincoln town car, and i need to know how to remove the motor from the regulator.

It is riveted on isn't it. You have to drill the rivets. The kit you are talking about will work on you vehicle. It is three discs that go in the head of the motor.

How do you remove the window regulator from 1992 ford taurus? He removed the bolts, but it appears there's rivets or something still holding the regulator/motor on. Do we need a special tool or something?

Yes, four rivets hold the regulator in place. You will need large rivet gun and some long reach rivets. The rivets are available from most parts stores (NAPA).
Punch the center of the rivet out and remove the head.

R & R power window drivers side Need to replace power window regulator on 96 Lincoln Town Car drivers side. Need instructions on how to do this.

I am in the process of doing this now to my 96 Lincoln Towncar. Today I removed the door panel. Hidden scews that attach the door panel are at end end of the door pull strap. The plastic end pieces are removable and each have a screw underneath securing the top of the door panel.
Hidden behind the water shield material at the top of the door are two nuts that retain the top connection of the window lift. I am going to razor cut a straight line through the water shield material to insert a socket to remove the two nuts and then put duck tape over the razor cuts rather that pull the water shield material from the door frame.
Started drilling on the left rivet to detach window from the regulator and quit for the evening.
Have three rivets to drill to detach the pwoer window motor from the door frame.
Two more rivets at the bottom of the door to drill out to detach the lower window regulator from the door frame.
Do not know how I am going to remove the right rivet of the bracket that hold the window yet. Looks like a would need a long drill bit to reach through the door frame to make contact with the rivet.
The replacement rivets that came with my window regulator are to big for my rivet tool. Could end up using nuts and bolts. Sure would make it easier for the next window regulator replacement.
Hope I have some good luck using the drill tomorrow. kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd

Drive side window regulator replacement

In order to replace the window regulator, the rivets that hold the window to the regulator must be drilled out, and the window then must be raised to the top and held in place by a suction device or you can use some duct tape, just put a towel on the painted surfaces to avoid a sticky mess, then remove the seven 11mm nuts that fasten the regulator to the door, and unplug the motor, swap the motor to the new regulator and reverse procedure to install.

Removal of driver side front power window regulator

you have to replace your window regulator. to do this you have to remove the 7 rivets holding the regulator, the window motor and window. first, take a punch and pop the centers out of rivets. then drill them out. this will allow you to remove old parts. then reverse the process. you will need special rivets from Ford and a large rivet gun.
