2004 Ford Explorer 4.0 V6. The EGR valve, can that make your car not shift? It comes on flashing 'Overdrive Off' and then doesn't want to shift or move.

Question edited for clarity and add punctuation.
Question moved to model category.

No, the EGR Valve recirculates exhaust gases to burn them a bit more and has no link to the transmission. You need an auto electrician or a transmission specialist.

Why my 2002 ford explorer overdrive flashing

The overdrive light flashes when the transmission has a fault/ problem and stores a code in the computer. Unless you are a professional mechanic I would seek one to diagnose your concern.

O/d light flashing on 1995 Ford explorer. Started

You should have the computer self tested by someone with a scan tool. The flashing overdrive light indicates a concern with the transmission. Self testing the computer should produce a fault code and give you some idea of what is wrong.

My overdrive

the OD light flashing indicates that the transmission control module has observed a fault. Take the car to a local aftermarket parts place and get the codes pulled (typically free) this will send you in the right direction regarding a repair.

My overdrive light is flashing indicating the overdrive is off

this could mean there is a problem with the transmission, but most times when OD light is flashing it is because the wiring to the OD switch is broken.
is the OD switch on the end of the gear shift lever ?
or does your vehicle have the shifter on console between seats ?
