Has your belt tensioner gone bad?

I would look into changing coil packs. When your coil packs go bad they tend to cut out as the engine warms up.

ive had similar problems and it ended up being a bad crank position sensor there are two on the vehicle one by the crank one one the back of the engine about halfway down and halfway across hard to tell which one without having the vehicle so change both if you have to but i would change the back one first hope this helps good luck

Remove oil pan and pump is bolted to back main bearing cap. But this is most likely not the problem. This engine is known for cam bearings spinning out of the block and cam shaft breaking inbetween #3 and 4 cam journals, oil pump is driven off the end of camshaft, engine runs very rough and makes all kinds of noise when this happens, cure is a new engine. to check for broken cam shaft removed front valve cover, have some one start or crank the engine, the 2 rocker arms on the drivers side will not move at all, most likely there will be silver metal dust laying in the low spots of the head where oil puddles up.

take out idle air motor stuff a plastic bag in the hole deep and pack it in there hard hold it in there,2 people, start motor dont take your hand off of key engine may run away with rpm and need to be turned off if you didnt seal that hole well if it idles really low and doesnt race then bye air idle motor ifit still races the same then check for vaccumn leaks if you cant under stand then dont try this

Seems like an idle speed control to me.

sounds like the idle air control motor is sticking , not sure what engine you have 3.4 litre ?? also you can ck the throttle plate right on top where the throttle cable bracket assembly part of that bracket holds down a vaccum line that has a rubber gromnet that after time leaks causing idle surge , hope this helps
