Check engine light would have nothing to do with this ! Check engine light is for engine codes ! there is a problem with the radio it self ! or SJB - smart junction box , ford's BCM - body control module . You should take it to a qualified repair shop . or ford dealer !
your missing firing one one cyl maybe . turn ur radio to the am station an listen to engine . it will crackel , wirrr an make puring sounds if its running well. put the antenna of an am portable radio at any wire an listen to it , it talks a song if you know how to listen.
other wise you have dirty flow of gas side . old gas with pollutants.

I have a very restricted amount of software for generating free codes but for anyone else needing a cheap radio codes for other Fords and many other models I can recommend this site.
Hi:
You must go to a ford dealer to get a radio code. If you show up with the radio serial number, and your VIN number , their service department can look up your radio code. This is an anti-theft prevention code that you can't just get anywhere!
Sometimes, the radio code is label, in back side of the radio; you need take off the radio for check it. Other times this code is in the last page from owners manual.
If you can't find it, maybe need call to the Ford dealer with your VIN number and they send to you (sometimes need pay for this service).
The display of the radio has micro contactes around the edges of the display. The cleaning agent used to clean the dash area could have been damaged. Best reccomandation is to have the unit replaced or taken to a repair shop and have the face plate repaired.
