If 3 out of 4 settings on my heater control do not work would it be the resistor or the blower motor 01 datoka

Replace the blower then replace the resister the blower is draging and the resistor gets hot and eventually burn up the resister and the wiring harness to the resister.

2000 Chevrolet Impala blower motor work from 1-4 but not on 5th speed why?

The blower motor relay is energized when the Blower Motor Control is set to the High position. This removes the blower motor resistors from the circuit and battery voltage is then applied directly from the HVAC BLO fuse (RH IP Accessory Wiring Junction Block) to the blower motor though the relay switch contacts. The blower motor then runs at high speed.

HVAC Blower Controls Circuit Description
The blower motor is a variable speed motor. The motor operates at a higher rate when voltage is increased to the maximum level.
The blower motor resistors reduce the voltage supplied from the A/C FAN fuse (LH IP Accessory Wiring Junction Block) when the blower control is set at low and medium speeds (speeds 1-4). The blower motor relay is energized when the Blower Motor Control is set to the High position. This removes the blower motor resistors from the circuit and battery voltage is then applied directly from the HVAC BLO fuse (RH IP Accessory Wiring Junction Block) to the blower motor though the relay switch contacts. The blower motor then runs at high speed.

The a/c and heater fan does not work

Kerry, Check all fuses and relays, quite often it is the blower motor resistor. 3 rd link will show diagnosing fan. Check the attached links,instruction and guides, Good luck

Heater blower motor.,Highspeed only works..problem??

9 out of 10 times its the heater fan resistor doing this. it has wires that corresponed to diffreent speed settings for heater fan. the resistor is beside the blower motor, Your Kia Sportage Blower Motor Resistor controls the heating equipment in the vehicle by opening and closing the fan motor. The Kia Sportage Blower Motor Resistor allows the heating and climate control system to control the speed of the vehicle's cooling fan. its under the passenger side glove box. undo 2 screws and disconnect the electrical connector. thats it!!

Heater won't go off

Hi,

If you're referring to the heater "FAN" running continuously, then its likely to be your blower motor resistor.

The heater blower motor (under the dash) has constant power supplied from the battery, but is controlled by the blower "resistor" - usually mounted on the blower motor assembly. If one or more of the blower resistor coil wires are faulty, the motor will either not work on one of the fan settings, or will constantly run by itself.

Blower Motor Resistor and Controller Replacement

Image Blower Motor Resistor Or Controller/Power Module Remove/Install

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect and isolate the batten' negative cable.

2. Depress locking tab and unplug the wire harness connector from the blower motor

resistor or controller (power module).

3. Depress locking tab and unplug the resistor or controller connector from the blower

motor.

4. Remove the 2 screws that secure the blower motor resistor or controller to the

heater-AC housing.

5. Remove the blower motor resistor or controller from the heater AC housing.

INSTALLATION

1. Install the blower motor resistor or controller to the heater AC housing. The

housing is indexed to allow (controller power module) mounting in only one

position. Tighten the mounting screws to 2.2 Nm(20 in. Lbs.).

2. Plug in the wire harness connector to the blower motor resistor or controller.

3. Plug in the connector from the blower motor resistor or controller to the blower

motor.

4. Connect the batten' negative cable.

Blower motor resistor, where is it located/

It will be up under the dash on the passenger side near the blower motor. It will have 5 or six wires in its connector

Heater on my envoy only works on 3-4 setting, could that be the switch.

Thanks for the opportunity to let me help. The blower control switch in your vehicle also uses a blower relay. This relay is generally located on the firewall on the passenger side near the heater fan. You can also look in you vehicle owners manual for the location of the blower relay, it may be also be located in the fuse and relay box under the hood. Generally speaking if the highest setting doesn't work on a GM vehicle it is a high blower Relay. This item is not expensive and can be purchased at most all you local Auto parts stores. If you have a Napa, Orielly's, or AutoZone these stores will also likely help you in the location if you are unable to locate this relay. Here is a general picturepepsiman1967.jpg The installation of this relay is either to remove from the fuse box, or if located near the heater fan housing then you will need to remove the mounting screws, remove the wiring clip, then reverse to install. owner manual will tell you fuse layout. If you have only high speed, you have a bad resister. 4 wires.

Resistor —Heater Blower Motor Switch Removal
  1. Remove the battery (10655) ; refer to Section 414-01 .
  1. Remove the battery tray.
    1. Remove the screws.
    1. Remove the battery tray.
  1. Disconnect the heater blower motor switch resistor connector.
  1. Remove the heater blower motor switch resistor (18591).
    1. Remove the two screws.
    1. Remove the heater blower motor switch resistor.

Blower motor doesn't blow anymore, This blows

If it blows only on high speed, it is the resister.
If it does not work at all, check fuses first. See owner manual for location.
Then check blower motor by jumping 12 volts from battery to blower motor. Make sure ground is jumped too.

If it works now, it's the control panel. If not, it is the motor.

Blower Motor —Front Removal and Installation
  1. Prepare the vehicle for blower motor (19805) removal.
    1. Disconnect the battery ground cable (14301). For additional information, refer to Section 414-01 .
    1. Remove the air cleaner assembly. For additional information, refer to Section 303-12 .
  1. Detach the speed control servo.
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    1. Remove the bolt.
    1. Position the speed control servo aside.
  1. Position the coolant expansion tank/windshield washer reservoir aside.
    1. Remove the screws and the nuts.
    1. Position the coolant expansion tank/windshield washer reservoir aside.
  1. Remove the blower motor.
    1. Disconnect the vent hose.
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    1. Remove the four screws.

Heater Blower Motor Switch Resistor(s)
The front heater blower motor switch resistor has the following features:
  • The assembly is located in the engine compartment on the evaporator housing (19850) next to the blower motor assembly (19805).
  • Three resistor elements are mounted on the resistor board to provide four blower motor speeds.
  • Depending on the heater blower motor switch position, series resistance is added or bypassed in the A/C blower motor circuit to decrease or increase A/C blower motor speed.
  • An overheating device (thermal limiter) will open the resistor coil circuit when the temperature reaches 121°C (250°F), interrupting the blower motor operation in all speeds except high.
  • The thermal limiter cannot be reset and is not serviceable.
