It should have come with back seats. Usually they fold down for cargo. If they came without seats, you can always add them, but you might be short on headroom and money in your wallet if you get pulled over. To be legal any seat would have to be securely bolted to the body with approved seatbelts. Should you do this you would need to go to the state patrol afterward and have them do a safety check and add the info to your vin number, then you may have to take a trip to the dmv, and definately your insurance agency as your insurance will drop.

The gearshift on my 1998 Ford explorer is very loose, now it won't go into gear, how can I fix it?

Most likely it's under the SUV. My '99 the gear linkage was on the driver's side. If the nut came loose, like it did in mine, the metal plate that the nut holds in the proper position has slipped out.

Loosen the bolt so the plate can be rotated back into the correct position on the threaded rod and tighten the nut. Then check the shift pointer to see if it lines up with P R N D D1 and also see if you now can get it in gear. If the shift pointer is not pointing correctly it back under the SUV to adjust that plate. If you can get someone in the driver seat at the beginning they can check the shift pointer while your under at the shift plate (save up/down up/down) and it will save you from going under and above several times to get the pointer in the right place.

Mine slipped after the doing this so I recommend adding a couple lock washers in between that plate and torque it tight enough.

Hope that solves things

Can you take the seats out of a 96 Eddie Bauer explorer and put in seats from a 99 explorer limited. And how do you retire the harness

Yes, you can. Just have the care to check for the new electric installations you have to make. Follow the wiring that runs from the seat to the fuses case. I imagine you are talking about the electric seats... right?

How to change broken stud on rear axle 1997 ford explorer

I am assuming you are talking about a wheel lug stud. The lug studs are pressed in from the inner side of the drum or rotor or axle flange depending on how your vehicle is equipped. You have to remove the wheel and drum or rotor to get access to the back side. Drive the broken stud out from the front after you have removed the drum or rotor and set the new one in from the back and tap it into the hole until set as the rest are. If you cant get it set all the way you can finish setting it by pulling it into place when you tighten the lug nuts on reassembly. The part should be under $10.00

What Is a SUV

Hi,
SUV is the widely used and known acronym, for Sport Utility Vehicle. At first conception, an SUV was a vehicle that combined the towing capacity of a full-size truck with the passenger and storage capacity of a minivan. However, as consumer demands have changed, so has the SUV. Many manufacturers now focus on fuel-efficiency and driving and riding comfort, rather than towing capacity.

The typical features of an SUV include;
1. seating for five to seven,

2. high seating and road positioning, roomy interior,

3.Non-dedicated trunk space,

4. High engine capacity and 4 wheel drive capability.

Though the SUV was originally designed to be an off-road vehicle for sporting purposes, their popularity has spawned several different breeds, including the luxury SUV.
Like cars, the SUV has different classes and sizes. The mid-sized SUV, which typically seats five, is the best-selling variety in the United States. During the SUV’s height of popularity, the Ford Explorer remained the top-selling model. The compact and full-size SUV appeals to many consumers equally, but for different reasons. The luxury SUV has the same features as standard class models, but contains upgraded interiors and trim packages typically associated with luxury model vehicles, such as leather interior.

When next you hear the name "SUV",i believe you now know what they are talking about.
