My change oil reset button on my 2002 Grand Am is in the fuse box by the drivers door. Turn the key on (so all dash lights are on), push the red reset button until the "change oil" flashes, then hold the button down until it clears from the dash. This should take care of it.

at 7000 you should definetly change oil, but depending on the make and model of your vehicle, to shut off of the check engine light will vary from a simple procedure in your owners manual, to having a obd 2 code detecter hooked up to identifie and delete codes
How to Reset the Change Oil Light
After changing the engine oil, the system must be reset.
With the ignition key to ON, push the RESET button
located in the driver's side instrument panel fuse block. The
CHANGE OIL light will start to flash, press and hold the
RESET button again. The reset is complete when you hear
the chimes sound and the CHANGE OIL light goes out.
