That depends on what climate you live in.

I live in southern British Columbia. it's very mild here all year round and the guy who taught me everything I know about vw's swore by 15w40 diesel grade oil. especially castrols' Tection extra

Here in Alberta, we tend to use 5W40 synthetic oil. Climates can drop pretty low so the wider range is good for our Cabrio. Which also uses that 2.0L NA engine. The synthetic is a really nice oil to use too, no problems so far.

Can I put brake oil in my VW Golf or does a specialists have to do this?

You can put brake oil but brake oil only gets low ( close to the lower level) when the brakes are worn or if there is a leak somewhere, have it checked out,

I just bought a 1988 VW Golf. I changed the oil and even checked it to make sure that there was enough. Well almost every single time towards the end of my trip the oil buzzer will go off. I checked the...

check to make sure the oil pressure sensore is working correctly,, you might need a new sensor.
could also be a sign that you are not getting enough oil pressure and this could be caused by a bad oil pump. but check the sensor first and see if this solves the problem.

What oil should i put in my auto gearbox from a mk4 golf?

The users manual will tell you in the back bro, a good idea is to get it from a VW dealer as on some times using their specific oil is best.

Hello
Your engine oil should be as follows

for cold climate 5W/30 semi-synth
for moderate climate 15W/40 semi-synth
for hot climate 20W/50 semi-synth
alternative moderate climate 10W/40 semi-synth

Your coolant system holds 10ltrs from empty you will be able to get this from your VW dealer (just use red or blue anti-freeze)

If its running fine on 95 benzine but you would be better putting a higher benzine in the car.
