NOTE: Emergency flashers and blinkers usually use a separate flasher unit, but one is close to the other. If your blinkers do not work but your emergency flashers do, find the emergency flasher unit by finding the source of clicking, then locate the blinker flasher nearby. They will ALWAYS be underneath the dashboard on the driver side.
IM NOT SURE.
BUT fix the emergency flasher failure
first using the logic, gee you see its busted, why on fix that and pray.
military doctrine does that too, and then says if 2 things wrong fix the simple one first. (getting lucky save time and dead solders)
10x that if related, and is. ! IMO
noise here, and bad emerg.. kind if same area.
the issue with the emerg. flasher is the contacts can mangle inside
and confuse related circuits. flashers, and warning modules.
1. Do your emergency flashers work?
Check all your fuses, make sure they are getting a good contact.
If your emergency flashers work, it may be a faulty turn signal switch.
If your emergency flashers work that will eliminate the flasher. The one flasher works both turn and emergency signals.
NO THE BLINKER AND EMERGENCY FLASHER ARE TWO SEPERATE UNITS. THEY ARE USUALY UNDER THE DASH, YOU CAN TURN YOU BLINKER ON AND LISTEN FOR A CLICKING TO NARROW DOWN WHERE IT COULD BE LOCATED
Sounds like the blinker relay. Is the emergency flasher switch on the dash above the radio ? If it is the blinkers relay is the same as the emergency relay. If the blinkers stop working pound on the emergency lights switch and if they start working then replace the emergency lights relay switch cause the blinkers is on the same relay as the emergency lights. My 2001 Grand Am does the same and I just hit the emergency lights switch and they start working again.
Hello Goddard. First thing is to verify all of the bulbs involved in the turn signal circuit are working. This will include the side marker lights. If they don't ll work the current flow may not be enough to properly activate the flasher. Next on the list is the flasher unit itself. It is mounted on the bracket near the emergency brake pedal. Replace it, the contacts may be losing continuity and the emergency flashers would draw more current making it work. Next would be the the signal switch itself. There may be some worn contacts and moving the emergency switch could position the contact point slightly enough to allow continuity. If you would like more assistance on this leave me a message in "add comments" and I will check back. I hope your repair goes well for you.
I had a similar problem on a 2001 Cherokee I once owned. The left side blinker would stop working after a few seconds, but the right side worked perfectly. I replaced the flasher and that solved the problem. I don't know why they did that since they share the same flasher. There is also a flasher on the emergency lights as well. It's a cheap and simple fix if that is the problem. Give it a shot.
Sounds like a multifunction switch, work the emergency flasher button up and down a few times, then attempt to work the turn signals if the signals work then you will need a multifunction switch.
The turn signals don't work, but the emergency flashers do? If that's the case, replace the flasher, you have 2 flashers, one for emergency (hazard) flasher, and one for the turn signals. It should be on the fuse block under the dash.
Your F--150 has 2 flashers, emergency and turn signal. Both are mounted on the fuse block under the dash. The turn signal flasher is mounted on the front of the fuse panel, the emergency flasher is mounted on the rear of the fuse panel. so replace the turn signal flasher should solve the problem. Let me know how it goes.
