You'll have to figure out if it is a fuel or ignition problem. Is the check engine light on before the engine dies ? It can run in 125 degree temp so there is a problem that may have been made worse by the 98 degree weather. My first guess would be the idle control motor or valve if it has one.
there not suppose to be any adjutments made for idle. high idle is usualy caused by a problem the computer is trying to confresate for something by keeping idle high ,check see if check eng light is on .check for bad coolant sensor corroted batt cables, poor battery connections, 02 sensors functions.if you really want to take down idle there is a small screw on throddle body in some model look for a air screw ,a large straight edge screw near air intke or on throddle body .but i dont recomend adjusting idle unless you ve fixed the problem that causing the pcm to raise the idle to prevent stalling of the eng
Crank shaft sensor or air mass meter, is this a v6? I had the 2,6 a4 same fault same miles funny enough. changed the air mass meter is was ok after that. thing is they have so many sensors, you need to get it on a diagnostic machine to be sure.
look for any wires touching under the hood. possibly change throttle control. check the abs plugs one at each wheel . check engine light is most likely on due to the transmission issue
If all maintenance is up to date.Check for vacuum leaks. If the vehicle has a vacuum leak.It will stall more often when the brakes are applied ,but could idle without stalling in park.Because of the vacuum demand for the brake booster, when brakes applied. Also do diagnostics on the computer for code status.Good Luck!!!
