The power steering has been giving me issues. a

The power steering has been giving me issues. a few weeks ago I began to hearing a strange noise from under the hood when I was accelerating. A couple of weeks ago the noise stopped and the power steering began to act funny. Usually when the power steering goes, the steering wheel is hard to turn all the way in either direction. My power steering is like a roller coaster in either direction. It goes hard then soft then hard then soft etc.

I recently had a similar problem. My problem did not involve p/s pump noise. Turning the wheel either direction would go hard then easy then hard. The problem was the universal joints on the steering shaft were rusting and thus binding. I confirmed this by spraying WD40 on the joints. That would help the problem but it would come back. My mechanic fixed it for about $200.

2008 vw jetta makes noise from blower

I would say your heater core has a leak and needs replacing. Moisture is getting into your blower motor and it will seize up if you run it that way.

P0496 = "Evaporative emission system high purge flow"

At the dealership, we get a lot of complaints like yours and they all started with running too low on fuel or running out.

Start with replacing the fuel filter and get back to me.

Running low/out tends to suck up micro trash from the bottom of the gas tank and that gunk clogs the fuel filter.

Front end squeeling noise on 2007 honda accord

could be the power steering pump itself. If it has a bad bearing it will do that. Especially when you turn it makes the steering pump work a lot harder.

Bad CV Joint?

Did you notice any leaks from the power steering? If you did not notice any leaks, the only place for the fluid to go is in the bellow boots(the accordion boots on the rack and pinion system). Go underneath and if no leaks are obvious, take a small screwdriver and poke a small hole in one of the boots. If fluid comes out, you're looking at replacing the rack and pinion. This would also explain the excessive play you're feeling in the steering.

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee leaking coolant and power steering fluid

Just a heads up, $10 bucks will buy you a seal kit for the P.S. pump. I topped mine off for a couple months, then the oring on the high pressure line (from pump, front center) blew and dumped the reservoir in a matter of miles.

The line can be a stinker to get off, recommend driving the car for a few minutes to heat up the pump a little. Don't forget the 20MM wrench.

Burning odor then whirring sound all within one weeks time

Could be belts or some fluid on the engine( power steering fluid) if your steering feels strange.
