2007 Beetle convertible, window doesn't drop

When you open the door on the '07 Beetle convertible, the window drops slightly. Lately, it has stopped doing that. Any idea what would cause this?

There is a microswitch in the door latch that senses if the door is open or closed. The switch is either bad or gummed up.

Possibly just a relay telling the window to lower slightly has gone bad. If it's only when the top is put up or down, you can either lower the windows yourself (most cost effective since it's not a major inconvenience), take it to a dealer if you are still under warranty, or check to see if there is a sensor or relay that has gone bad, causing this malfunction.

Is there some way of opening the vw cabriolet when it's icy and not causing any damage. The windows are supposed to go down but because of ice |I'm afraid there's going to be some kind of damage. What does...

There is a wax you can buy to rub around the rubber surround where the door and windows contact. I don't remember where i got my last stick from but I would think a candle would work too.

You are trying to stop the glass/frame sticking together. So, rub wax on them and see if this helps.
The windows are supposed to drop slightly when you pull on the door handle. If they don't, it usually means the window module has lost it's position memory.

Continue to hold the window switch down for 5 seconds after it reaches it's lower limit. Do the same for fully up position....this sets the modules limits memory and windows should drop as handle pulled to open the door..

I have a vw 2003 beetle convertible, with a problem with the window. It wont drop down to open door...or go up after i close the door. It opens ok with the button otherwise?

That sounds like a door lock problem. The door lock sends a signal to the convienience control unit to activate the window so you can openthe door and raises the window when you close the door.Try another door lock.good luck.

Power window open partially with inside or outside

inside the mechanical lock (The part that actualy holds the door shut when you close it) there is a switch that informs the control unit that the lock is either locked or unlocked.
These switches fail sometimes, when this happens the control unit is not aware that you have opened the door, and therefor will not wind the window down slightly.
The switch is integral with the lock unit, and they are not easy things to replace either.

When I open the driver side door, the auto window drop feature malfunctions: either it does not open slightly, or it closes early, before I close the door. Where is the sensor/regulator? Car is a 2007...

Sensor is in the door switch. You could try a little wd 40 into the key hole(could just be sticking). Not easy to repair. You could do further damage to door.

Volkswagen Beetle Convertible Power Window Release

i would think the door is not recognised as being opened.if the interior or door light does not work when the door is opened its probally due to a faulty microswitch in the door lock mechanism, the whole lock mechanism will need to be replaced.

Beetle Convertible window problem

My wife's car is a 2004 convertible. We had the same problem. There is a switch built into the door latch assembly. Whenever you pull either the interior or exterior door handle, the switch lowers the door glass a certain amount.

We replaced the door latch assembly and that corrected the problem.
