Re: 2004 Kia Sedona, replacing the timing belt? How?
Best to go pick up a repair manual at your local parts store. I would think Haynes has one for KIA. It's far too complicated to expalin on here, and there will be pictures in the repair manual as well.

too complicated and expensive for a diy
as the seal is leaking , you will require a new timing belt as oil destroys belts very quickly
An accredited service center with experience on your make of vehicle will do the job inside 5 hours and if professional will replace all seals , hydraulic belt adjuster and idler pulleys to ensure that it lasts to the next scheduled belt change
make sure you ask if that is going to be done and insist that it is so or go somewhere else
The kia sedona water pump is an internal pump and needs to be replaced with timing belt service. if it is leaking, then you need to change the timing belt as well. probably not something you want to do in the back yard and will run you between 400 and 600 depending on your location and shop. I'm not familiar with the Sedona but it's very likely that it is much easier to do the plugs when the engine is disassembled for the belt job. If the plugs are due fairly soon anyway, it would save you a lot of money if you just pay for the plugs now and you don't have to pay for all the labor to get at that area of the engine again.
one check if your wheels are tight 95 ftlbs if mag wheels remove make sure no heavy corrosin arond hub and rim wheel will not seat properly and come loose. 2 check front end if belts are showing check ball joints and tie rides for wear vans are also known
for bad wheel bearings even if you cant hear it at 80km50mph give or take it may have ecssive play
check that front end .otherchecks ps pump and or loose p/s belt
Hard to say..I just recently replaced both tensioners on the timing belt. One was going out and there was a screaming/whining sound similar to a fan belt slipping. They run about $80 each and are a dealer only item. The info to do it yourself can be found online at
