Tips for changing the head gasket on a 2004 Kia Rio, I heard that I had to use new bolts and that 2 were shorter than the others but I am confused about the tightening of the bolts to 36ft/lbs and then loosening them off again and then tightening them to 18ft/lbs plus a 1/4 turn tighterwhat is the point?

You have to do it this way so that the bolts dont lift or back out of the head and then the new gasket will blow the gasket again as if you never did the job.
You come this far finish by doing the job RIGHT you will be proud.
The old blots can not be reused becaused they already have been torqued (stretched) and they Won't work, they will never tighten to specs

Were do the head bolts go in a2oo5 kia reo thereare 2diff lents

Start putting the longer bolts in any hole when you see a bolt sticking out a lot further then the others that is where a shorter bolt will go. It will be easy to see the differance.

My timing belt broke. need spectes for head gasket, if need to use new head bolts. with a new/used head from a wreck car.also need timing marks for t-belt 1.5l

It probably will also need new pistons as the valves bent and broke causing holes in pistons. If you are lucky and just need a used head go here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LM8j-uHsNhY

Engine overheating 2004 kia rio changed thermostat, lots of antifreeze, still overheating

Then the problem is the water pump or a cracked Head, blown head gasket or cracked cylinder wall causing over pressure in the cooling system. Replace the water pump first then consider the other problems. If you do a compression check and have compression on all cylinders but extremely high compression on 1 or 2 then the problem is the Head gasket, head or Cylinder wall being cracked.
