My son's Lanos has two stripped lug bolts on one wheel. The threads are also damaged where the lugs screw in. Where can I get replacement lug bolts and what do I do about the threads on the female side?
You can get replacement bolts and nuts at any auto parts store. just tell them what kind of car it is, and theyll match you up with the right ones. be sure to replace the studs and the nuts. theyre fairly inexpensive. to replace them, you remove thebrake drum or rotor, and simply use a hammer to pound them out backwards. or, they may be mounted on the cars spindle, rather then the rotor or drum. after you have them out, slip the new one into the hole. they must be pressed in, so its not gonna go in all the way. the easiest way to do it is to set it in the hole, put the nut on the threaded end, and just tighten up the nut. that will pull the stud all the way through the hole. then simply reinstall anything you removed from the car, and make sure there is a good amount of torque used to tighten the wheel down.
