Older motors do use more oil. The oil is leaking because the springs between the piston and the cylinder are a bit worn out. The cylinder and pistons also wear a bit. You could minimise the oil usage, when you let the motor give a revision. That will cost a lot. As long as you don't need to pour in more oil you should try to live with it. Don't buy expensive oil, because it can't become old in the motor.
- Engine oil change:
Engine oil- fully synthetic. 5W20, SN. Replace oil after every subsequent 5000-8000 Km.
- Replace oil filter after every subsequent 10,000 Km. (Genuine).
- CVT, Transmission oil change. CVT-TC 08886-02105.
Replace CVT oil after every subsequent 100,000 Km.
- Replace Toyota coolant after every 30,000 Km.
From what you report, the difference from the original 4500Km and the later 14,500KM is 10,000KM. This does match the claim of the new oil. It does seem excessive, but the engine did get more than twice the distance than at the first interval of 4500KM.(2 x 4500KM=9000KM + 1000KM).
You should get a compression test to check for the piston rings and while they do this, they will remove the sparkplugs which could be physically examined. But getting someone to do this will probably require a call to Subaru Corporate Customer Service.
The Corporate people will probably have Data to tell if this oil consumption is higher than normal. The Corporate people would know about all the problems versus 1 Dealer and his experiences.
Somehow I want to say that in the past, new cars had a break-in period for the first 500 Miles, not to exceed 50 MPH. Do not know what that is in Kilometers, but you may have exceeded this in the first 3 days of driving. There are all kinds of theories for break-in periods.
You may benefit from a Browser search for Subaru's like a BLOG for Subaru or Impreza owners.
That depends on the type of oil you use.
You have more than one option for this car , you can go with Semi Sentetic / Castrol and replace from 8000 KM - 10000 KM or you can go with full sentetic that will give you from 20000 KM - 25000 KM.
