Hi there, after replacing coolant bottle my car leaking water a t bottom of car only when engine has been running for a while. Tried to bleed system but as soon as fan kicks in water bubbles out of bottle. My heater also blows cold air. Can it be thermostat? Car runs fine

Could be a blown head gasket. suggest getting a pressure test done at a radiator specialist type auto repairer . To confirm if pressure is building in your radiator system from escaping exhaust into the radiator system via a blown head gasket in engine.
Thermostat would cause over temperature not bubbles.

Is your temperature gauge working now? That is of more concern then your heater as you wouldnt know if your engine was overheating until its too late. Your heater core could be clogged, they get clogged quite easily. You can flush them or replace. The part is inexpensive but on some models you have to take out dash to replace them, but on other models it only takes about 30 mins and a few bolts.

you should have hot water on all rad. hoses when the motor is running at a norm. temp. the water is not going through the heater core like it should. you have cutoff valve bad low water are a stopped heater.try a hoter thermostat if none of the above are true.

Do this when cool. Take radiator cap off, start the engine, turn on heat (not defrost) and now top up coolant to about an inch or 2 from top of radiator, as level drops down, and let vehicle run until the radiator fan comes on, then off, about 3 times, and add coolant as needed while it's running. After that, put radiator cap back on tight & make sure return bottle is filled to proper level. Now try that & see how heat is, temperature gauge etc, and keep an eye on return bottle level for a while. Let me know how it is.

Not an expert by any means, but i know my ranger.. I had a small leak at the top of my radiator that still cooled the engine but didnt have enough pressure to get to the heater. The heater hoses travel up over the engine and just were not gettin anything to my heater core. That or make sure the heater control valve is operating.

Hi, I replaced the thermostat bypass hose, refilled with coolant ran engine to bleed system and coolant is gushing out of radiator fill hole. I have not come across this before any help please.

When running the engine to bleed air was the cap on the rad fill hole? It should be so the coolant system builds up the required pressure, may have to repeat this process a couple of times, after engine has cooled,the expansion bottle is the better place to refill the coolant

How do I bleed the cooling system?

Turn the heat control to max and remove radiator cap - add coolant as much as possible. Make sure overflow container is filled to correct level - then Start car and run - after the thermostat opens water level may go down some - keep adding coolant till it is totally full. Turn engine off and put radiator cap back on tight.

Where is the thermstat at in a 1998 ford taurus?

I'm guessing you can't find it because it's in a separate housing or located under the lower battery tray in the housing (depending on model of engine). Even though this is specific for 1998; I believe it's the same for 1996-1999 Taurus's. I have access to illustrations, but only .gif and/or .bmp extensions were available which would not copy here. If you need these, I will try an extension change to .jpg. Good luck, this should be enough info. It is helpful to include the engine size in question, for future reference...

3.0L (2V) Engine

Removal

Drain the engine cooling system so that the engine coolant level is below the water thermostat (8575) as described.
2.Disconnect the upper radiator hose (8260) from the water hose connection (8592) .
3.Remove the three water inlet connection retaining bolts. Remove the water hose connection .
4.Remove the gasket and water thermostat from the water hose connection . Do not reuse gasket.
Installation
1.Install the water thermostat , gasket and water hose connection as illustrated.
2.Install and alternately tighten the retaining bolts. Tighten bolts to 10-14 Nm (89-124 lb-in).
3.Connect the upper radiator hose to the water hose connection .
4.Fill the engine cooling system with a 50/50 mixture of Premium Engine Coolant E2FZ-19549-AA (green), (in Oregon, F5FZ-19549-CC, in Canada, Motorcraft CXC-10), or Ford Extended Life Engine Coolant F6AZ-19544-AA (orange), or DEX-COOL coolant, or a coolant meeting Ford specification WSS-M97B44-D and water, as described under Cooling System, Draining, Filling and Bleeding procedure.
5.Start the engine and check all hoses and connections for leaks. Allow the engine to warm up so that the water thermostat opens.
6.Stop the engine. Top off degas bottle as required to maintain minimum cold fill level.

Removal

Drain the engine cooling system so that the engine coolant level is below the water thermostat ; refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this section.
2.Raise vehicle on hoist.
3.Disconnect the lower radiator hose (8286) from the water inlet connection.
4.Remove the two water inlet connection retaining bolts. Remove the water inlet connection.
5.Remove the O-ring seal and water thermostat from the water thermostat housing. Inspect O-ring for damage and replace if necessary.
6.If required, remove water thermostat housing retaining bolts, water thermostat housing and O-ring from lower radiator hose tube. Inspect O-ring for damage and replace if necessary.

Installation
1.Install the water thermostat , O-ring, water thermostat housing (if removed) as shown.
2.Install and alternately tighten the retaining bolts. Tighten bolts to 8-12 Nm (71-106 lb-in).
3.Connect the lower radiator hose to the water inlet connection.
4.Lower vehicle.
5.Fill the engine cooling system with a 50/50 mixture of Premium Engine Coolant E2FZ-19549-AA (green), (in Oregon, F5FZ-19549-CC, in Canada, Motorcraft CXC-10), or Ford Extended Life Engine Coolant F6AZ-19544-AA (orange), or DEX-COOL coolant, or a coolant meeting Ford specification WSS-M97B44-D and water; refer to Cooling System, Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this section.
6.Start the engine and check all hoses and connections for leaks. Allow the engine to warm up so that the water thermostat opens.
7.Stop the engine. Top off degas bottle as required to maintain minimum cold fill level.

Removal

3.Remove power distribution box.
4.Remove battery tray.
5.Disconnect upper radiator hose and position out of the way.
6.Disconnect the lower radiator hose from the water inlet connection (8K528) .
7.Remove the two retaining bolts. Remove the water inlet connection .
8.Remove the O-ring seal and water thermostat from the water pump (8501) . Inspect O-ring for damage and replace if necessary.

Thermostat

Installation
1.Install the water thermostat , O-rings and water inlet connection as illustrated.
2.Install and alternately tighten the retaining bolts. Tighten bolts to 8-12 Nm (71-106 lb-in).
3.Connect the lower radiator hose to the water inlet connection .
4.Install upper radiator hose . Position spring clamp securely.
5.Install battery tray.
6.Install power distribution box.
7.Install battery.
8.Fill the engine cooling system with a 50/50 mixture of Premium Engine Coolant E2FZ-19549-AA (green), (in Oregon, F5FZ-19549-CC, in Canada, Motorcraft CXC-10), or Ford Extended Life Engine Coolant F6AZ-19544-AA (orange), or DEX-COOL coolant, or a coolant meeting Ford specification WSS-M97B44-D and water; refer to Cooling System, Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this section.
9.Start the engine and check all hoses and connections for leaks. Allow the engine to warm up so that the water thermostat opens.
10.Stop the engine. Top off degas bottle as required to maintain minimum cold fill level.

2001 3 litre s type. water pump replaced now coolant leaks from overflow once engine is switched off

By removing the water pump obviously alot of water has drained out therefore you need to prime the air out of the complete water system at the radiator. The coolant leaking out is caused by the hot air rising to escape out the coolant bottle the only exit point.With the engine switched off, alocate a bleed screw on the top or on the side of the radiator and open that screw.Then keep pouring water into the coolant bottle until you see air escaping from the bleed screw.Once the air stops releasing and only water then spurts out, close the bleed screw. The system is now 95% primed. Start the engine and let her idle then open the bleed screw again, if only water spurts out for about 5 seconds then the system is completely primed. If there is still air coming out you can rev the engine a bit to circulate the water faster and then the system will bleed quicker(Not forgetting of course to top up the bottle replacing the lost water from bleeding) as soon as there is only water shooting out the bleeder, close the bleeder and top up the bottle to the maximum mark only. If ever you over top beyond the maximum mark just open the bleed screw to let out some water until it drops to the maximum mark and then close.The system is now fully bled. Problem solved.

How to change a water pump on a 2000 intrepid 3.2 engine

3.2L & 3.5L Engines
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2. Drain the cooling system.
    WARNING Do not use pliers to open the plastic drain.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:
    NOTE It is good practice to turn the crankshaft until the No. 1 cylinder is at Top Dead Center (TDC) of its compression stroke (firing position).
    Negative battery cable Coolant recovery cap and open the thermostat bleed valve Drive belts Timing belt Water pump mounting bolts, noting the position of the longer bolt Water pump. Discard the O-ring seal.
  4. Clean the gasket sealing surfaces, being careful not to scratch the aluminum surfaces.

To install:
  1. Install or connect the following:
    WARNING Rotate the pump and check for freedom of movement.
    New O-ring and wet with clean coolant prior to installation. Be sure to keep the new O-ring free of any oil or grease. Water pump with a new O-ring. Torque the water pump-to-engine bolts to 105 inch lbs. (12 Nm). Timing belt Drive belts
  2. Fill the cooling system by performing the following procedure:
    1. Close the radiator drain.
    2. Open the thermostat bleed valve. Install a 1 / 4 in. (6mm) clear hose about 48 in. (1.2m) long to the end of the bleed valve and the other end into a clean container. The intent is to keep coolant off of the drive belt(s).
    3. Slowly, refill the coolant recovery bottle until a steady stream of coolant flows out of the thermostat bleed valve. Gently squeeze the upper radiator hose until all of the air is removed from the system.
    4. Close the bleed valve and continue to fill the coolant recovery bottle to the proper level. Install the cap on the bottle and remove the hose from the bleed valve.
  3. Reconnect the negative battery cable. Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperatures.
  4. Check the cooling system for leaks and correct coolant level.
    WARNING Be sure that the thermostat bleed valve is closed once the cooling system has been bled of any trapped air.

Dashboard indicator says low coolant (or water?).

Well your on the right track. The container with the coolant knob is where you add your fluid. The fluid being antifreeze. I find that a mixture of 50% antifreeze and 50% water does well. Or you can add it straight and without water. I recommend mixing it. Or you can buy it pre-diluted. On the side of the jug with the coolant knob you'll see a line that says "full cold" and another that says "full hot". You know that if you have not driven your car that day, your engine is considered cold. Its easy.

Were is the water pump 1997 dodge interpid 3.5 l

Its the center-most pulley that the drive belt touches.

3.5L Engine

See Figure 5
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  1. Place a drain pan under the radiator. Open the radiator drain located at the lower right side of the radiator. Do NOT use pliers to open the plastic drain.
  2. Remove the coolant pressure bottle cap and open the thermostat bleed valve.
  3. Remove the timing belt using the recommended procedure. It is good practice to turn the crankshaft until the engine is at TDC No. 1 cylinder, compression stroke (firing position). This aligns all the timing marks and serves as a reference point for all the work that follows.
  4. Remove the water pump mounting bolts and pump. Discard the O-ring seal.
  5. Clean the gasket sealing surfaces. Do not scratch the aluminum surfaces.

To install:
  1. Install a new O-ring and wet with clean coolant. Be sure to keep the new O-ring free of any oil or grease.
  2. Install the water pump and O-ring to the engine block.
  3. Install the retaining bolts and tighten to 105 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
  4. Rotate the pump and check for freedom of movement.
  5. Install the timing belt using the recommended procedure. Verify that all valve timing marks align. This is most important. An engine out-of-time will be seriously damaged when first started.
  6. Be sure that the radiator drain is closed. Open the thermostat bleed valve. Install a 1 / 4 -inch clear hose about 48 inches long to the end of the bleed valve and the other end into a clean container. The intent is to keep coolant off of the drive belt(s).
  7. Slowly refill the coolant pressure bottle until a steady stream of coolant flows out of the thermostat bleed valve. Gently squeeze the upper radiator hose until all of the air is removed from the system.
  8. Close the bleed valve and continue to fill up the coolant pressure bottle to the proper level. Install the cap back on the bottle and remove the hose from the bleed valve.
  9. Reconnect the negative battery cable. Start the engine and allow to run until normal operating temperature is reached.
  10. Check the cooling system for leaks and correct coolant level. Be sure that the thermostat bleed valve is closed once the cooling system has been bled of any trapped air.

This is not a good sign. have your oil changed and see if their is antifreeze in the oil. If so im sorry to say it but you have a head gasket leak. Very common on the F-150's
