Your firing order is 1-5-3-6-2-4. Number 1 is at the front of the engine . The distributor turns clockwise and the #1 position on it is the first plug past the front clip, toward the fender.
Sounds like the axles have to be pulled to get the studs out. Not that familiar with Aspens but if it wont clear the backing plate the hub assembly has to move out away from it.
jlarson737, did you ever get a solution for you knocking noise? I also have a 2008 Aspen and have a clicking (knocking) noise coming from the 3rd seat passenger side of the Aspen. Rod
