SOURCE: VW POLO 1.9CL Diesel 1997 wont start

hi from uk check the main lead from battery+positive to the starters solenoid is secure ? also there is a thin wire that also connects to solenoid on a terminal of its own this is the solenoid energizing wire that works starter when key start position is selected if all above is ok? then use a jump lead and connect one end to battery negative post then the other end of lead to a suitable earth point on engine ? then try starting? if it works/starts ? you have a bad earth connection to engine from battery negative lead check the earth lead connection at point on engine is clean/secure ? it usually is secured by bolt at point where engine and transmission connect ? hope this helps?

Where is the diesel bleed valve on a polo 1997

There isn't usually diesel bleed valves in the traditional way. The drivers of modern diesels require to arrive at a destination without smelling of diesel - even if the car did run out of fuel on the way. For that reason modern diesel cars are intended to be self-bleeding - something most of them fail dismally at due to manufacturers cutting costs...

Lots of cranking when the car is young and fit would usually get it started but the time taken to self bleed would become longer with age until a single battery would never be enough.

Modifying the fuel system by adding a hand prime pump is money well spent and then when primed loosening the injector pipes and cranking until fuel emerges from each and retightening and the engine will soon start.

2005 vw polo 1.9 tdi wont start

if it starts when you pour fuel in the intake.. then fuel is not reaching the tbi from the tank..you say you put a new fuel pump on this..did you bleed the fuel lines? if not do this because there is an airlock in those lines..either you need to open a fuel line at the tbi unit to bleed it all out.. or be looking at a clogged up fuel filter..

Rough idle problem

could be a vacuum leak at a hose or gasket. with the engine running spray a little carb spray at the intake manifold area. if the idle picks up you are close to the vacuum leak. dont spray on the exhaust manifold area, be careful

Heater Blower fault for Polo

this sound like the fan motor itself. remove the blower fan from the car(its on the passenger side below the glove compartment) and bench test it to see if its straining or maybe something jamming it. not uncommon to get a bunch of leaves in there or i have seen nests once or twice.
