SOURCE: 2004 Jeep Liberty shaking when breaking at high speed

Some things you can check. 1 jack up one side at a time. Grasp the tire on each side and try to move the tire, if you can move it you have a bad inner tie rod on that side. You can also grasp the tire at the top and bottom and try to move it that way as well, this will tell you if you have bad ball joints. I suspect a bad inner tie rod here as you have replaced everything else. If you check both front tires and nothing is loose your problem lies in your front brake rotors. Hope this gives you some help and thank you for using FixYa!

Sincerely,

JC

Remove the two hex head bolts holding the caliper. Remove caliper, remove pads from it. Use an 8 inch vise and an old pad to press cylinder back into caliper. Reassemble in reverse order.

You dont say if you have manual 4 wheel drive or electronic on the fly. Anyway, if you have the electronic knob, sometimes ice will get into the 4 wheel drive solenoid and cause it to not move into position. If you can get into a warm garage or underground parking for about an hour, you will see if it thaws and starts to work again.

Sounds as if your 4x4 actuator failed to get all the way out of 4 wheel drive. Try shifting in and out of 4WD, backing up some, etc. You may have to replace the actuator, or some part of that system. Could be time for dealer diagnosis.

2004 Jeep Liberty Noise/Problem

if you are driving on hard surface ( sealed roads) in 4wd then don't as if damages the drive train
what is happening is that there is a torque wind up from the front and rear wheels running at different distances and the cluck you hear is when at some point that torque is released and allows the selection to disengage or engage
4wd is for use in slipper conditions unless you have an AWD which will become 4WD when required by you after selection of the control

I have a 2002 Liberty 4x4 and today when I tried to put it in four wheel I drove forward afterwards, but if you try to turn the car acts like it will not go at all.

That is normal for four wheel drive vehicles on hard non slip ground. The front wheels when four wheel drive is engaged will act like a brake if they are turned almost all the way to the left or right. When the two wheel drive is disengaged it will drive normally again.

2004 jeep liberty front suspension seems to lock up front tires while making a turn WTF????????

Sounds like the tires are hitting the wheel wells. THis is Deadly.

Do you have oversize tires on the Jeep? Is your front axle drive engaged? Is it slung low to the ground like a low-rider? Any of these can cause 'lockup' in the front end when turning. If not, I would have the U-joints, CV joints and drive linkages checked.

2002 jeep liberty - limited - electrical problem

If yor liberty is a 2002 to 2004 it is very likley that the wiring harness is pinched under either the drivers or passengers seat. you need to remove the seats (its only 4 bolts) and lift up the carpet and look at the harness that runs under the seats. I have seen this many times before.By the way i am a Jeep master technicain and have been for 15 years.
